Upgrading DM800 firmware

I have a DM800, but I'm not sure if it's a clone or original. If I look at the info page, it lists the following. Is there a way to definitely confirm if this is an original or clone?

Enigma Version: 2011-09-28-3.2
Image Version: Release SVN(098r6), 03-11-2011

The performance of this enigma version is sluggish. If recording 1 channel, it seems fine but as soon as I start recording a 2nd channel on the same transponder I start getting dropped frames.

I see that some people are using Blackhole firmware. Is there a version of that I can upgrade to without bricking my unit? Any tutorials for upgrading firmware?

I looked at the comparisons from http://wiki.blue-panel.com/index.php/Differences_from_DM800_HD_PVR_to_Cloneboxes and it looks like I definitely have a clone unit. Is there any difference in the quality of the TS recordings of a clone and original Dreambox?

There is no difference in the recordings.

Make sure if your flashing any images they match the sim type you have in your box.
