Updating Channels on IPBOX

My 9000HD has been stable for 2 months, giving excellent quality images on Sky and my local cable ( just bought a full HD Sharp 32inch LCD which is excellent value for money).

Cable supplier is updating his channels. I guess this means I have to rescan (on Tuner 2 only). Would anyone know that in saving this new cable list I will delete the sateliite list, and how this will effect my Favorites list? In the past I have painfully had to rebuild everything.

if you do the cable scan manually it will be ok, but if you do automatic scan, good chance you will lose your satellite channel list, that happened to me ( using last release of NLB )

Does this mean I need to know the coordinates of every channel. In fact I do this for ITV HD and it comes in fine. In my case the channel list has been changed by the cable company so I don't know where the 20 channels are (until after I've scanned).

upgrading your channels

I'll reply to myself on this one as I just took the chance and went ahead and did it.

In fact, you don't lose all of your channels, nor your FAV list. You get channels which are scanned twice in your channels list which adds up to a painfully long choice to mix-down to your favourites. Anyway, this is what I did. My favourites did not get erased so I kept the Sky ones untouched, erased the old cable FAV cable list,
then added the new re-programmed cable channel favourites having checked one by one that they work.

They did, apart from the new HD channels on the cable supplier's bouquet. Now, any idea why the IP BOX will handle the existing channels with ease (MGAMD)but why I can't see the additional 5 HD channels? I have the suspicion that the Provider has to authorise these individually and I suspect this is more a case of bandwidth management ( as everyone does not have a full HD TV like me).
