Turner Germany launches Glitz*

Turner Broadcasting System, Germany has announced the launch of its 24/7 female skewed channel Glitz* in both SD and HD versions. Kabel Deutschland (KDG) will be the first platform to carry the channel from May 2012.
Glitz*. Is Turner’s first lifestyle and entertainment brand to include prime-time series, films, talk shows, reality shows, biographies, original content and concerts . The channel is already available in Latin America, where it launched in May 2011, and now makes its European debut in Germany. The channel will be offered with a dual soundtrack, in German and English, if available.
The new Turner channel is set to compete with the recently launched Sixx, the female skewed channel from the ProSiebenSat.1 Group. Its tagline is “Hier scheint die Sonne” (The sun shines here).
The HD version of Glitz* will be part of the KDG’s Kabel Digital Home HD offer. The operator is currently expanding its bouquet of HD channels with the recent announcement of eight further HD channels in its line-up.
TBS Germany already has four channels available, TNT Serie, TNT Film, Cartoon Network and Boomerang. Turner plans HD versions of the two kids channels, Cartoon network HD is set for launch in October 2012, while Boomerang HD will follow in 2013. Carriage agreements with Kabel Deutschland have been signed and other deals are expected to follow.
