Turkish telco maps out strategy
09.02 Europe/London, January 31, 2012 By Chris Dziadul

Türk Telekom is accelerating its investment in fibre infrastructure and aims to reach 3 million households by the end of this year, according to Gökhan Bozkurt, the company’s CEO.

Quoted in Hürriyet with other Türk Telekom executives, he added that it already reaches 730,000 households in 81 provinces throughout Turkey, with 150,000 homes benefiting from its services.

These include internet access at speeds ranging from 25 Mbps to 100 Mbps.

In Türk Telekom’s most recent (Q3 2011) results, the company noted that the Turkish Telecom Authority (ICTA) issued a new regulation on FTTH/B investments.

As a result, “FTTH/B will be excluded from the process of market analysis for five years or until the number of fibre internet subscribers reaches 25% of the total broadband market.”

The telco’s ADSL offer currently includes a new quad play package known as HEPNET.
