Hi Folks,
Just had the following problem with my new 6902T2, hope this saves other people grief.
The latest 104p (also 103p if I remenber correctly) has a new facility under Menu/System Settings/Front Panel Settings. has a new option “RCU”. This allows one to choose to use a remote control from the TM 6000, 6902, 7000, 7102 and 5402 units.
Nice Idea.

Now beware: (6902 set to use it’s own remote) I have a 6900 super. If I use it’s control to work on the 6900 if I press the “Exit” button 3 times consecutively the 6902T2 will change over to the 6900 super codes without asking for confirmation. This happens with the 6902T2 in standby, on, recording or playing back!!!!!!!
If you watch the 6902 (not in standby) when doing this, it briefly flashes up "6900 RCU detected" then changes to the 6900 codes.
It is common to use the “Exit” funtion 3 presses consecutively on the remote to exit to picture!
This means that one could be unknowingly be deleting channels, changing settings, stop recording etc on the 6902T2 without realising, as one would be watching the the other receiver.
It took some time to experiment to find out what was going on!
A message for Phantom, patches much appreciated, but could he increase the number of “Exit” button presses to at least 8 or so and/or ideally ask for confirmation of change using the original selected RCU as happens when changing RCU in “Front Panel Settings”.
Of course the easy way back for me was to pick up the 6902T” RCU and press the “Exit” button 3 times! But the damage to settings was done!
This of course could apply to other new Technomates.

Cheers

Ken Hodges
