Telecom Italia signs SVOD pact with CBS

CBS Studios International and Telecom Italia have signed a non-exclusive licensing agreement that will allow subscribers to instantly stream CBS content in Italy on its Cubovision platform. The new on-demand service, called CBS, is the first branded subscription channel from this major Hollywood studio in the Italian market.
Launching on Cubovision, Telecom Italia’s broadband subscription on-demand service, subscribers will be able to stream early seasons of CBS’s popular television shows such as NCIS, Dexter, Nurse Jackie, and 90210 as well as full seasons of classics such as Star Trek: Enterprise and Twin Peaks.
Armando Nuñez, president, CBS Studios International, said in a statement: “Best-in-class programming from divisions across the CBS Corporation make this branded, on-demand service possible. We’re excited join forces with Telecom Italia to provide Italian audiences with premium U.S. content whenever and wherever they want to watch it.”
“With its launch in Italy, Cubovision is focused on adding significant quality to the entertainment choices available to Italian consumers, while providing a valuable new channel, increased consumer reach, adding “value creation” to the entire offer of TV programming from Telecom Italia” said Paolo d’Andrea, head of innovative VAS, Telecom Italia. “The partnership with CBS Studios International is significant and allows Telecom Italia to be the first to bring the major Hollywood studio’s branded channel in Italy, and we are excited to offer these popular programmes to Italian entertainment fans anytime and anywhere.”
