symbolic links for db.dat

Hello,

As I read from the forum messages, to preserve my channel list, I should copy /var/db.dat file to my PC via FTP, install the update, rename the db.dat file (on my PC) to db.dat.edited and copy it to /var directory via FTP.

But, when I look into the /var directory with my FTP client, I noticed that,

/var/db.dat is a symbolic link and points to the original file which is in /usr/share/sbox/config/db.dat

and

/var/db.dat.edited is a symbolic link and points to the original file which is in /usr/share/sbox/config/db.dat

So, is it correct to copy a normal file over a symbolic link?

On Sifteam images file is actually at /var
and on Abcom images it is at /usr/share/sbox/config/
You are best of transferring the file to exact location. Btw I haven't found any need to rename the file. I just overwrite db.dat and turn the power off with back switch, then power it back on.
