St Petersburg to launch DTT in August
St Petersburg and the Leningrad region of Russia are on track to launch its first digital-terrestrial multiplex in early August, according to local reports.
The multiplex will cover about 80% of the Leningrad region. The region began test transmissions in March, subsequently rolling out test broadcasts in St Petersburg, Vybord, Kingisepp, Luga and Tikhvin.
Russia plans to roll out digital-terrestrial TV in 24 regions covering 43 million people by the end of the year. It recently launched test broadcasts in Ulan-Ude and Kursk.
