Sport1 picks up German WRC rights

German broadcaster Sport1 has signed a deal with the Sportsman Media Group and Red Bull Media House to take World Rally Championship (WRC) rights for the 2013 season.
The one-year deal with the new promoters of the championship will see Sport1 get live rights to each of the 13 rallies this year.
Sport1 has committed to broadcasting highlights of all 13 on its free-to-air channel and will show some live.
The broadcaster stepped in last May to pick up a deal for the remaining rallies of the 2012 season.
The new WRC season begins on this week in Monte Carlo.
