tried that file but what ever format its encoded in just will not trnsfer

just extract the softcam key to a usb stick insert then update through the remote press menu then scroll down to USB/External Device then go across to USB Up/Down/File Manager scroll down to the softcam key and press ok

or install the latest patch if you have a M3 like manic01 stated it self updates

Then you are doing something wrong.
Wont download from Technomate site or from your usb stick?
If on stick ok, menu-usb-data transfer-scroll to the correct patch (Phantompatch-Test-TM5402-M1-31-07-2015-025p.stb) and press ok
Newcamd needs to be turned off if using as it will cause stb to reboot.
Powervu is also enabled.

You dont open it from that site it is a stb file ready to go straight onto the stb.
It is not in rar or zip format.
The one I have attached is on rar format, extract to usb stick then follow my procedure above.
