Smargo driver installation

I have a genuine DM800 and want to install dirvers so that am able to use a smargo to read a sat card in the dm800. I've done a load of searching and found this:

http://www.sat-universe.com/showthread.php?p=488317

However, being a newbie to all of this, I'm a little confused about what to do where its says:

"This pack is autoinstall in your db800"

Could someone point me in the right direction?

My first thoughts were to cut and paste the folder into the root using DCC, is this right?

Help would be very much appreciated.

a lot of the images now already support the smargo.

install like its says in the link, and yes copy and paste bold text, when done do a hard reboot by unpluging the receiver.

P.S. be careful on the clock frequency

Edit the file bootup in the folder /etc/init.d

you add:

echo 90 > /proc/progress
modprobe ftdi_sio

Set the cccam.cfg :

SERIAL READER : /dev/usb/tts/0 smartreader+

SMARTCARD CLOCK FREQUENCY: /dev/tts/0 XXX0000

M8, thanks for replying but have to admit am still a little confused (probably cause Im thick, :D).

The bit that I don't understand is how to "autoinstall in my dm"

download the file to your desktop, with an ftp prog like DCC ftp the zipped folder to tmp, then do a manual install from the remote, green button, yellow button then you should see manual install.

Got it.

Followed instructions as set out and rebooted, plugged in Smargo and card (chip facing down) but get nothing.

Looking at the smargo, a label on it says "Smartreader" and not "smartreader+".

Does this make a difference?

Have tried editing cccam.cfg removing the "+" bit to see if that would work, but no joy.

Any ideas?

What image are you using mate?

Some images require the drivers to be turned on via the kernel manager.

@Ferret:

This is the image (I think it is anyway as its the only one I have):

NabiloBlackHole_DM800_012_8a8f8.nfi

If I do need to turn on the driver, where do I find the kernel manager?

Hi mate

The drivers for the smargo are already included in that image but you need to turn them on.

Press the blue button twice scroll to Smargo & Other USB and turn the setting on.

Then reboot

M8 done this but smargo still not reading the card. Also the add-on that I had ftp'd across has disappeared, ie it's not on the image anymore.

I have also removed the following from the bootup file:

echo 90 > /proc/progress
modprobe ftdi_sio

and removed this from the cccam.cfg:

SERIAL READER : /dev/usb/tts/0 smartreader+

SMARTCARD CLOCK FREQUENCY: /dev/tts/0 XXX0000

But still not having any luck.

Am I doing this right?

Sorry to be a right pain about this, but haven't got a clue about emu.

Card I'm trying to read is a Sly card.

CCcam 2.1.4 doen't appear in my Downloads Manager/Nabilo E2 Image Cams.

I do have 2.1.3 (which is what I am using) and the next one I have showing is 2.14.

Been looking around to see if there is a way of updating the list but can't see how.

Is the 2.14 the same as 2.1.4 and that the at it is is that the "point" is missing in between the 1 and 4?

I ask cause I've been searching all over the place and can't find a 2.1.4 for Nabilosat Blackhole E2.

Hi
You have to Edit the initd.bootup again
and remove your enties cause the Driver is
Include in this Image so no need to edit the initd.
This entrie you have to do only if the drivers are not in the Image.
In CCcam.config you have nothing to remove
just Add
SERIAL READER : /dev/usb/tts/0 smartreader+

SMARTCARD CLOCK FREQUENCY: /dev/tts/0 XXX0000

OK, still having no luck trying to read the Sly card in smargo.

This is what I have done:

1) Downloaded CCcam 2.1.4 and made it my default cam.

2) Made sure Kernel Module set to "Yes".

3) Edited CCcam.config with:

SERIAL READER : /dev/usb/tts/0 smartreader+

SMARTCARD CLOCK FREQUENCY: /dev/tts/0 XXX0000

4) Generated Boxkey using the link provided by entering the 17 digit serial number from under the Sly box.

5) Added the following to CCcam.cfg:

BOXKEY: /dev/sci0 xx xx xx xx

The "x's" being replaced by the boxkey generated.

6) Rebooted Dreambox.

Still only get free-to-air.

What am I doing wrong?

Have followed and undertaken each step carefully and checked them over again, but still the smargo doesn't seem to read the card.

Does it make a difference that the smargo has a label on it saying "Smartreader" only as opposed to "Smartreader+"?

There's a little green light on the smargo that flashes, first with a very dim flash, then a second with a slightly brighter flash and then thirdly with full brightness then it repeats the process.
