Phil Latam has just bagged himself one of the most sought-after jobs in the country -- sleeping bag tester

He will now get paid £600 per week - that's the equivalent of £30,00 per year - simply for sleeping on the job.

All the 27-year-old has to do is test various sleeping bags under canvas and report back to bosses at Halfords about the their comfort and warmth.

Phil beat off competition from over 1,000 other applicants for the job… there would have been even more applications but some of the best candidates were so dozy they overslept.

Phil, from Devon, who has a degree in Outdoor Leadership said: "I am delighted to have got the job. I was a bit dazed when they rang and told me, especially when I heard how many people had applied.

"I have been a member of the scout movement since I was four and have a lot of experience of camping.

"My girlfriend saw the job advertised first in the papers and rang saying: 'I have just seen a job you may be over-qualified for!' Then my mum phoned and my sister, all telling me it was a job tailor-made for me so I thought I better go for it."

Halfords say they advertised the job in order that store staff can provide expert advice to customers who were increasingly asking staff about camping experiences.

Before you get too jealous it's worth noting that the sleeping bag tester job only lasts for one week.
