Setanta to offer Liverpool FC channel

Setanta has struck a deal with Liverpool FC that will see it exclusively offer the club's new TV channel in the UK & Ireland.

The Irish pay-TV operator, which has struck the deal with the club's media arm Liverpoolfc.tv, intends to offer the the channel as part of its Setanta Sports Pack available on satellite.

LFC TV becomes the ninth channel in the Setanta Sports Pack and will be offered at no additional fee above the £9.99 per month Setanta is charging for the services.

Freeview subscribers, who only have access to Setanta Sports 1, will also be able to watch Liverpool TV-branded Champions League and Premier League matches as part of a £9.99 package.

LFC TV offers at least six hours of original programming content a day, five days a week.

Programming on the channel will include all Liverpool matches in the Premier League and Champions League, a daily news round-up, exclusive interviews with players and coaches, classic matches and at least 50% of friendlies.

Under the terms of the deal, Setanta becomes an official Liverpool Club channel partner and has secured a package of marketing and promotional rights.

Setanta will take all subscription revenues while Liverpool will receive a rights payment and retain all "gross receipts" from sponsorship and advertising on LFC TV.

The channel will also be simulcast by Liverpool on liverpoolfc.tv as part of its e-Season Ticket premium content offering.
