Satellite service adds to already buoyant Telekom Entertain

Deutsche Telekom’s new satellite delivered service added an additional 14,000 subscribers to the installed base just weeks after launch.
The rollout of satellite in Germany is part of a broad strategy by Telekom to add satellite as a supplement to its various IPTV platforms. The German version commenced on September 1. By the end of the month and the third quarter there were 1.375 million subscribers. This represents an increase of 16.7% since the end of 2010.
The DTH service takes linear content from satellite, adding on demand content online. The TV service is available to around 75% of households in Germany.
Declining revenues from fixed line services continue to be a sore, total revenues down by 4.1%, though including a 37.1% rise in TV. Hungary and Croatia also reported strong TV growth.
