Russian media group takes shape

06.41 Europe/London, September 27, 2011 By Chris Dziadul

Russia is seeing the emergence of a new media holding focused on music-oriented TV and radio stations.
Kommersant reports that Igor Mishin, who previously established Channel Four, is set to buy the music-oriented TV channel A-One.
Launched in August 2005, it is currently distributed by over 800 cable operators in 550 cities throughout Russia and also carried by the DTH platforms NTV-Plus and Tricolor TV.
A-One is believed to be unprofitable and in the view of some industry sources unlikely to fetch more than $5 million (€3.7 million).
Mishin is also understood to be preparing to buy the radio stations Next FM and The First Popular Radio from Gazprom Media.
