Russia unveils DBTS technology

The Russian company Radiozavod im A.S. Popova has announced that has developed a new digital broadcast technology.
Known as Digital Broadcasting Transport System (DBTS), it allows for the simultaneous retransmission of at least 80 TV channels and provision of broadband internet access, video monitoring of remote events and IP telephony.
DBTS is seen as a significant advance on MMDS, being able to send four times as many TV channels and offer three times the coverage.
It also provides high noise immunity.
The technology has been developed within the parameters of Russia’s digital strategy, which envisages ASO in 2015.
Radiozavod im A.S. Popova is based in the Siberian city of Omsk.
