ROBINHO has confirmed he is leaving Manchester City - just as Sunsport revealed on Saturday.

The £32.5m British record buy could have played his last game in the FA Cup victory at Scunthorpe yesterday.

He said: "I am going through a bad period."

The striker cannot stand no longer being a regular City first-teamer and is desperate to rejoin his first club, Santos, in Brazil.

He added: "Roberto Mancini said I'd play one game and but not another. I didn't accept that and told him so.

It's a World Cup year.

"The directors all agree it's better to send me out on loan.

"It would be exceptional to return to Santos. Playing for Santos would help me in my path to the World Cup. It is my home. I know everyone."

Robinho, signed from Real Madrid in September 2008, bagged his side's fourth goal at Glanford Park and boss Mancini insisted he was keen for him to remain at Eastlands.

He said: "Robinho, for me, must stay. I see him with us for the rest of the season. He has said nothing to the contrary to me.

"If he doesn't appear in every game, there is a good reason.

"I have five or six excellent players competing for two or three positions up front. I cannot pick all of them all of the time.

"But Robinho's class is there for all to see. He's a top player for us.

"Things can change, of course. I need every player happy, to want to play and work every day. I wouldn't keep an unhappy player."

Santos would make the £100,000-a-week ace, City's top scorer last season with 15 goals, happy.

He insisted: "It's important being happy. Money isn't everything."
