Right holders enforce ban on live World Cup coverage

Around the world, right holders are trying to enforce the rules and regulations regarding live coverage of the FIFA World Cup 2014 in Brazil.
Two recent examples include Turkish public broadcaster TRT in France and Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation on the DStv DTH platform in Africa.
In France, the IPTV provider Free has stopped distribution of Turkish domestic channel TRT1 which showed all FIFA World Cup games for free following intervention from the pay-TV channel beIN Sport, which holds the French broadcast rights to all 64 World Cup games. Thus, the loophole to follow the games live without a beIN Sport subscription has now been closed.
The Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation signal on the DTH platform DStv was de-actived last Thursday at the instructions of FIFA to prevent people from watching the World Cup for free.
The tournament started in Brazil last Thursday.
ZBC apologised to its viewers but said it would broadcast all the 64 matches through terrestrial television where viewers would use a normal aerial.
And of course, ARD and ZDF left Hot Bird during the World Cup games due to rights restrictions.
