record with out HDD

Hi Hulday,
I tried 500gGb lacie extern on USB.Didn't work (ext HDD was Sata II and the ipbox only works on Sata1- an interface protocol issue ). Switched to internal Samsung HDD with jumper to convert to SATA 1 and works fine.
I think the issue was I couldn't convert the external HDD to SATA1 - oddly enough in re-using the external HDD on my laptop I found that the IP BOX had reformatted to Linux and to the recording partitions relating to the media segments in the IP Box. Strange.
USB extern is 5 times slower than eSatA. Unless you want an external network drive look at an internal solution.
The thing is every external HDD you buy off the shelf is SatA2 - don't know why Abcom doesn't just make this standard.
