wait, this has been going on since 2012, the first conversion should take place in 2014, but because of the contract with "digitalglue" (system integration and technology offerer) did not come about.
- here you have to exchange ~ 150000 decoder in overseas
- a dozen domestic and international satellite systems
- hundreds of commercial as well as national cable networks.

There aren't 150 000 UAs in the EMM stream, so there can't be 150 000 decoders to be exchanged. From the 80 000 or so UAs, many belong to "new" D9865 decoders, those won't need exchanging, just a simple firmware upgrade. So the number of old and active decoders could be less than 20000 even. Any active UA starting at 50 won't probably need exchanging.

Cable networks aren't really a problem - how many of those carry AFN? None in the US, few in Germany, but the number is very small and I really doubt they would be using the old decoders anyway. The D9865 has been around for quite a few years now.

Reading the FAQ, makes be believe it should still be viewable.

They say the cisco 9865 which only seems to support powervu, will still be able to receive the new HD channels just not all features.

Last Date of Support: September 30, 2018
The last date to receive applicable service and support for the product as entitled by active service contracts
or by warranty terms and conditions. After this date, all support services for the product are unavailable,

sure, if you own a Cisco D9865 and if you're authorized to view AFN, you'll continue watching

After reading the complete FAQ, I'd say AFN are pretty confident that whatever patch they'll upload to the D9865, it will stop piracy, which means they won't need to change keys anymore. And after seeing what MTN did, I have no problem believing this.

ahh

i use streams atm and record online , but was looking to use a box recording for more consistent and long period recording.

stream relay works on some boxs . would it be harder re setting up and recording .

i do a lot of greyhound racing videos for anybody that doesn;t know already. and that's why i'm trying to sort out the best way to go

Hopefully someone here can help.
Even with what looks like a correctly decoded ECM, the CWs seems to be wrong sometimes.

I'll post two examples: one where the CWs are correct, one where they are not, using the same code.
(no keys here)

Working (using standard sbox) :

decrypted part1: c0 1e 79 07 b1 a0 80 2b 07 7a d4 b0 f9 80
SeedBase: c0 1e 79 07
decrypted part2: 1C 00 F6 08 18 01 01 F6 8F 14 BC BD 01 81 A0 81 A0 00 00 00 83 00 80 00 3D AF 00
SR for Seeds: AD 06 EB 0A C8 CF 00
Video seed: BC 45 85 36
Base CW: 80 2b 07 7a d4 b0 f9
Video CW (before expand): 3c 6e 82 4c 68 f5 7c

Not working (using alternate sbox) :

decrypted Part1: 50 8c 86 86 12 a8 a7 28 0a bc 8e 65 a2 a7
SeedBase: 50 8c 86 86
decrypted part2: D9 00 C2 AD C9 01 01 52 04 DC DB A7 02 02 A0 00 D0 00 00 00 97 00 00 00 62 06 60
SR for Seeds: EA 9D AA 2C 59 B7 C1

What should be the correct video seed, baseCW and Video CW (before expand) be here?

Coder
I have never tried, but there is an option in powervu emu to decrypt the ecm/emm offline, from a file.
I am not sure what debug options or what would be printed out in the results file, but if you do not have it or use it,I can try, given you post the ecm packet.
Maybe debug can show the correct values.

Thanks for the tip. I'll try that.

One detail:

From powervuemu2.3 ReadMe.txt:

History
-------------
V 2.3
- Added `Antena 3/South America` support (A PowerVU variation with a special XOR mode).

How does this "special XOR mode" work?
