The Polish public broadcaster TVP has announced the closure of a tender for the technical operation of what will be the country’s third DTT multiplex.
According to TVP, it held the tender – it officially closed on midday on March 3 – after being allocated the multiplex by the Office of Electronic Communications (UKE) on July 31 last year and subsequent approvals on October 30. However, it gives no indication of who has lodged bids and when a winner will be announced.
Poland’s first DTT multiplex was launched last September and is being operated, at least on a temporary basis, by TP EmiTel, while the second, and indeed the third, multiplexes have yet to make their debuts.
There is still an ongoing debate as to what channels the first two multiplexes should carry. The latest indications are that commercial broadcasters would like the second multiplex allocated all to themselves.
