Polish digital law in final stages
11.38 Europe/London, July 27, 2011 By Chris Dziadul

The Polish law on digitisation has appeared in an official publication of legal acts known as Dziennik Ustaw. This means it will now come into effect in 14 days.

According to Rzeczpospolita, the legislation is divided into two parts. The first looks at the implementation of DTT and such factors as the ASO and public information campaign on digitisation.

The second meanwhile covers legal aspects and the actions of the two regulators, namely the Office of Electronic Communications (UKE) and National Broadcasting Council (KRRiT).

Separately, Gazeta Wyborcza reports that two of the four companies recently awarded licences to distribute new commercial channels on the first multiplex are likely to operate with larger broadcasters.

U-TV is understood to be engaged in talks with TVM, while ATM Grupa already has links with Polsat through Zygmunt Solorz-Zak, a shareholder in both companies.
