Polish cableco hit by fine
December 28, 2012 12.14 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul
Poland’s Office of Electronic Communication (UKE) has fined the cable operator Vectra PLN350,000 (€85,523) for a number of violations of consumer rights.
In a statement, the regulator says that its decision was based on the results of a pre-audit of the company that examined a large number of contracts provided to customers, as well as documentation of its complaint procedures.
This revealed numerous violations of the Telecom Law and regulations that had been approved by the Minister of Infrastructure (dated October 1, 2004).
In imposing the fine, the UKE took into account Vectra’s current activities, the violation of the law and the company’s financial standing.
Vectra vies for the position of second largest cable operator in Poland with Multimedia Polska. UPC Polska, with close to 1.5 million subscribers, is the market leader.
