NTV-Plus expands online presence
08.57 Europe/London, September 26, 2011 By Chris Dziadul

The Russian DTH platform NTV-Plus plans to launch a web TV service in 2012.

Quoting executives at the platform, Vedomosti reports that the service will initially offer viewers around 30 channels, including Discovery Channel and National Geographic, and cost about R150 (€3.46) to receive.

Sports channels will charged for separately and the service will in the first year be available to 30,000 regular subscribers.

Earlier this year NTV-Plus announced that it was also making its entire programme package available to IPTV operations.

It was then estimated that between 20,000-40,000 would be receiving NTV-Plus via IPTV by the end of this year, paying the same fees as its regular DTH subscribers.

NTV-Plus is the longest-established DTH platform in the CEE region, having made its debut in 1996.

It currently has around 600,000 subscribers, or roughly one tenth of Tricolor TV, the market leader in Russia.
