Geneva 6 November, 2013 – Following the successful global satellite broadcast of the London 2012 Olympic Games, Euro-Cup 2012, NBA, Formula One and other major events, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), operator of the world’s largest satellite and fiber live video network, has decided to upgrade its European satellite network with modulating equipment based on NovelSat advanced NS3™ third generation satellite technology. This upgrade will effectively make the EBU satellite network the fastest, most advanced and robust in the world.
NovelSat NS3™ enables 16 MPEG-4 AVC high-definition channels at the same time, statistically multiplexed over a single 36 MHz satellite carrier. Current DVB-S2 implementations can only manage 6 MPEG-2 channels. This capability lets broadcasters deliver more video services over less bandwidth, so they can choose to either reduce their monthly operational cost or increase their channel count with revenue-generating programming

I think that this is a big move for EBU.Is this the start of the end for DVBS2?
