Did you already install "usb-driver for vesta" on your Windows-PC, that is included in the package "Flashtools_v1.02.exe" ?
Without this driver, the ipbox9000hd won't be recognized.

As MAKBAR says - doesn' matter if XP or Vista - usb-driver and flashtools work fine.
If you don't know how to install - download HowTo-file below

(FlashTools_v1.0.2 you will find in this forum under "Cuberevo - Ipbox 9000 Tools").

Flashtools 1.0.2 is intalled but in usb upgrade mode my pc does not recognise any new hardware and satbox gives error 10, in normal run mode new hardware is recognised but usb the drivers are not instaled correctly (drivers not correct for the hardware connected) also tried connecting a different pc but exactly the same results.usb leads and connections checked out OK and both the pc and satbox can read from the usb port i`m using.

how are you getting the box in usb upgrade mode?
are pressing power and ok together and then release them to be followed by pressing and holding power until usb upgrade appears on your ipbox? then try flashtools

HowTo install usb-driver/use flashtools - Edited version

Because again and again people seem to have problems with the expression "Press and hold the power button" in HowTo-documents

(and release the power button before "USB UPGRADE" appears on front display of ipbox9000,)

i edited the howTo.pdf file from above.

I hope, it will help some of you better than the old version.

Yes, finding USB Upgrade is a fine art. Here's what works for me (after switching off a 100 times)
- Switch off IP Box(I do from rear of box)
- Switch on
- Immediately press PWR off and HOLD ( I use remote control)
- Then press and hold LEFT ARROW for 2 seconds ( I use remote control)
- USB Upgrade should come up

In FlashTools 2nd screen USB Connection should come up in bottom center pane. Find file ( I usually put this on desktop). Press DOWN, and you're away

Hi Ocaklilar,

I guess you must have a good reason for this.Isn't it the same as pushing the panel buttons?

Many thanks

Hi Terd,

I may be wrong but I seem to remember that I read some directions about not to use remote on upgrade process, but if it works then there's no problem.

Regards.

Ocaklilar,

Only sensible one is that pressing and holding these buttons may drain the battery.

In some situations ( eg recovering my AV settings when no video to TV) you need 10 fingers!

Thanks

How to initiate USB UPGRADE depends on how you flash (USB-connection or USB-stick) and whether the box is set to standby or to shutdown.

If you shutdown your box, your power button light will be on (blue colour). In this case flashing via USB-connection can be started by just pressing and holding the power button until USB UPGRADE appears on display.

In standby mode (or when flashing from USB-stick) you will have to press and hold power button, in addition press Up key and release power button, when USB UPGRADE appears.

If you're flashing via usb-connection, first flashtools 1.02 and usb-driver for vesta must be installed on your windows pc - otherwise the box won't be recognized.

Thanks Ararat,

I'm trying to format my LaCie HDD
external through the USB input. Are you saying that I need to be in USB upgrade mode to do this?

Thanks

TerD
