Nilesat bans Lebanon channels

Cairo-based Nilesat appears to be following a situation where Saudi Arabia has allegedly taken down some key Lebanese channels, with Nilesat ceasing transmissions of the al-Manar channel.
Moreover, Nilesat has reportedly written to Lebanon’s Ministry of Communications saying it would no longer uplink channel from Beirut effective April 6th. Nilesat’s contract with Jouret al-Ballout teleport and transmitter station ended on April 6th, and is not being renewed.
The owner of the al-Manar channel, according to AFP, described the move as totally political.
Saudi Arabian-backed Arabsat took the al-Manar station off air in December 2015.
