New X-Files gets day and date release across international markets

| 18 December 2015

With fans eagerly awaiting the return of Mulder and Scully, FOX International Channels (FIC) is bringing the rebooted X-Files to more than 60 countries with a day and date release.

Produced by 20th Century Fox Television and Ten Thirteen Productions, The X-Files is created and executive-produced by Chris Carter. The original series premiered in September 1993 and became one of the most successful television dramas of all time. The show earned 16 Emmy Awards, five Golden Globes and a Peabody Award and ended its run 13 years ago.

The new six-episode event series helmed by creator/executive producer Chris Carter and starring David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, will air on FIC’s FOX channels immediately following its debut on 24 January 2016 on FOX in the US.

The series will return as part of a two-night special event across all licensed territories within the international FOX portfolio starting on 25 January 2016, and will reach audiences throughout Latin America in markets such as Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, Argentina; in South East Asia including Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia; and markets in Europe including Bulgaria, Finland, Greece, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Turkey and Africa.

The day and date TV launch model is a staple of the FOX programming strategy for its viral, high-profile US series, including The Walking Dead, Wayward Pines, Scream Queens, Empire, and the upcoming Outcast. FOX is available as a linear channel and non-linear offering in over 340 million homes across the US and virtually all international TV markets.
