New exec joins CTC Media

The CME-backed Russian commercial broadcaster CTC Media has appointed Alexey Shchedrin as its chief strategic communications officer, effective today (November 1).

In his new role, he will head Strategic Communications, which includes the following functions: Financial Communications and Investor Relations, which will continue to be led Ekaterina Ostrova; Public Relations, headed by Maria Starovoyt; and Communications Support for Television Projects, headed by Elena Shneyderova, who was previously responsible for the CTC channel public relations.

Shchedrin was director of corporate communications and investor relations at Nord Gold N.V. from 2011 until October 2013, where he was responsible for developing and implementing strategies for the company’s financial and corporate communications, as well as investor relations.

Prior to that, from 2009-2011, he was the senior consultant for corporate and financial communications at the communications agency, Mikhailov and Partners.

From 2006 to 2009, he worked at Severstal, LLC as an investor relations manager.

Commenting on his appointment, Yuliana Slashcheva, CTC Media’s CEO, stated: “Alexey has the task of centralizing management of CTC Media’s communications system by making it more effective and synergetic for our company. We strive to help our audiences understand equally well both our strategic goals and products under the CTC Media brands through which we achieve these goals. The Company has already built a good relationship with investors and analysts and we are counting on Alexey’s experience to help achieve an equal level of efficiency in CTC Media’s corporate and product communications.”
