• Discussion in the Admin room about nightly images, we dont really need or want these posting for the following reasons.

    1. We all know where to get them.
    2. Never have a change log.
    3. The changes if any are not worthy of anyone upgrading there boxes on a daily basis.
    4. They clutter the forum up.

    Posts will be removed.

Ok guys keep it on topic about the box itself. Although I think it is best to wait and see what exactly box will be made off when it is actually released to public.

I think the topic should be closed until we get pics etc, this is getting to much publicity especially when we have a satellite shop as our main sponsor

The specs of the Darkbox are impressive and it will be a winner if Cccam and enigma are running on it.
But here are the facts as they stand,
1./ the box can not run enigma 1 because enigma 1 does not support twin tuners.
2./ Enigma 2, which does support twin tuners, has yet to be ported above alpha state on any processor not supported by dream I'll think you will find.
3./ Cccam is closed source and will not run on any processor not supported by Dream and good luck in trying to convince the owners of the source code otherwise.

Being a Kathrein UFS910 owner I can tell you that Enigma 2 can be made to work on an SH4 processor but boy it is tricky. But being the uset of an Sh4 processor I can also tell you that Cccam will almost 99% guaranteed never see the light of day on this box and the same goes for any other box based around STi processors.

And lastly I hope I am proved wrong in a lot of what I said above because if this box does deliver all it promises then it will open up a lot of avenues for owners of linux HD boxes other than dreams.

It is probably what is called an OEM (Other End Manufactured) box. This is where the original manufacturer re-badges (and often changes the casing and front panel) for a customer.

The box will look different from the outside but the main motherboard will be the same, as will the chipset (including the RAM, Flash Processor and Front End NIM(s). Often the power supplies are changed as well; if new countries need to be supported.

Sorry, I don't understand ? I didn't say anything about what machine I think it may be based on, just the business process that's involved ?

I was trying to be informative, not argumentative! Although I have to say I'm particularly interested to see how you'll get CCCAM running on it
