network issue

hi

i have an issue with getting my laptop to see my solo2 in the network browser of my windows 7 laptop.

i have the solo2 connected to my vm superhub hub with ethernet cable and have internet access on the box.

i can ftp to the solo2 and access the webif in firefox browser on the laptop and also stream to the laptop using the webif.

ican also do this remotely after forwarding the ports on hub to my box address

i have installed nfs and samba server on the solo2 but i cant seem to get a share set up from the laptop to the solo2.

i have tried turning off the firewall on the hub/router but i cant see any settings for windows firewall in case this is whats causing the problem.

i previously could see the solo2 in the network browser on the laptop but that was a few s/w versions ago and i have done a couple of fresh installs to upgrade. also windows has done a few automatic updates since i was last able to see my box on the network on the laptop.

i have another pc which is also connected to the router with ethernet cable and i can see it ok.

i have the same problem

yes m8 it seems a bit of a strange one and is baffling me at the min.
when i originally set up my solo2 as far as i can remember windows7 automatically picked it up in the network browser once i had installed samba on the solo2.

now no matter what i try the laptop just doesnt see it on my network - but i know its definitely there.

i dont know whether any of the windows updates have caused this issue or if it is related to later versions of the vix images - but i assume others would have lost the box on their network after upgrading to latest vix and it would be a more common problem.

im more inclined to think it is a windows/cifs issue
