Netgem sees connected TV future
August 1, 2013 09.07 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

Box VideofuturNetgem has announced plans to introduce a new and original offer, encompassing terminal to content and addressing a market segment with significant potential, in Europe and emerging economies.

It will be made available to operators in a ‘TV as a service mode’ and the company has chosen France as its reference market for the offer.

Pre-launched in June, it sees Videofutur Box customers given access to an enriched connected TV service for €10 a month.

Netgem acquired Videofutur earlier this year and includes it in its latest set of results.

These show that the company had revenues of €33.8 million in the first half, down 12% on the corresponding period last year.

While its international revues of €23.4 million were 5% up on a year earlier, those in France slumped by 34% to €10.4 million.

Recurring operating income was down by 18% to €4.1 million and net profit rose by 7% to €3.8 million.

Netgem has also announced that Christophe Aulnette will head up Netgem International in Singapore and Mathias Hautefort, former CEO of Videofutur, has become deputy general manager of Netgem.

According to Netgem, Hautefort’s mission is to ensure the success of the “Box Videofutur” connected television service in France, and to develop Netgem’s presence in Europe, in particular through the deployment of customised versions of this service.
