Name change for French broadcaster
June 28, 2013 08.13 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

The French national media company that comprises RF1, France 24 and Monte Carlo Doualiya has been renamed France Médias Monde.

According to the company, this reflects its employees’ and managers’ desire for a name that is less administrative and easier to understand abroad.

It also coincides with the definition of a strategic plan, known as Contrat d’Objectif et de Moyens (COM), in the coming weeks.

Significantly, the new name, which replaces Audiovisuel Extérieur de la France, is not intended to replace the brands RF1, France 24 and Monte Carlo Doualiya, which will remain what the company describes as “the principal vectors of communication”.

France Médias Monde is now effective and will be gradually rolled out over the next few months through a domain name and modification of the company’s official documents.
