Your tuner driver transistor(B772 in most cases for strong receivers) may have gone bad. It is located very near the tuner. Replace it and hopefully you will be ok.

Hi hafsat,
You see a completely dead set could mean so many things.
1. Check your power cord for continuity by using a simple meter tester(sometimes your power cable may open inside). If the cable is ok then,
2. There are two resistors one with a heat sink (LM 317)it is a voltage regulator. It is located very close to where power suppy connects to the main board. Replace it and the transistor near it. Both transistors are located close to where the power supply connects to the main circuit board of your receiver.
3. If none of this works then, your set may have gone for good (I am not sure.)
4. Or probably the patch you use for the upgrade could have been corrupted by a virus through you computer/flash disk. In this I don't know what you can do to salvage your reciever
I wish you good luck.

Hi hafsat,
I forgot to tell you one more thing which you could use to establish whether the voltage regulator is working or not before replacing it (that is assuming your power pack is sound) plug the receiver into the power line and allow it to spend sometime say 10-15 min. then unplug it and touch the voltage regulator. If it there is a rise in temperature, then it is working fine. Which means your power pack, and voltage regulator (LM 317) are ok. But if it is still cold then it could either be bad or no power is even comiing to it at all.
