Sky has given details of a new slate of commissions that will be seen on Sky 1 this autumn. The channel is focusing on comedy and drama as part of plans by Sky to invest £600 million per year in original British content by 2014.

“Our focus is on delivering shows that our customers feel really, really close to and can utterly fall in love with. With today’s announcements and our best autumn season yet, we’re sure to not only keep our customers happy, but to give everyone else a reason to think about getting Sky,” said Stuart Murphy, Sky’s director of entertainment channels.

Included in the package is an eight-part drama, The Smoke, following the White Watch crew of a London Fire Station, created by Skins writer Lucy Kirkwood. There is also a two part adaptation of the John Meade Falkner story Moonfleet. Chris O’Dowd’s Moone Boy returns for a second run and there are two new stories for Charlie Brooker’s DCI Jack Cloth in a Touch of Cloth (pictured).
