Moms spend five months of life doing laundry

The average mum spends five months of her life 'doing the laundry', it has been found.

A recent study discovered it takes the typical mother 26 minutes to go through arduous pre and post-wash tasks every time she turns on the machine.

With most mums ploughing through six loads of washing a week that means two hours and 36 minutes are spent on the laundry.

But on top of that, mothers spend 55 minutes a week ironing clothes. Bringing the total to 183 hours a year.

This means that before their child turns 18 they spend nearly five months sorting out the washing… and that's before you factor in the husband.
A spokesperson for ecozone.com, which carried out the study of 4,400 mums, said: "This shows how much work mums do around the house for other members of the family.

"All mums will tell you they spend their entire life doing the laundry and they're right, it is a staggering amount of time.

"Carrying out tasks like pulling tissues out of pockets, pairing up socks, looking under beds or behind doors for underwear take up a large chunk of their life."
