Are you sure are you using correct mgcamd version and not the one for E2 receivers?

It has named mgcamd.ppc , if you look for the single file in the .zip of 1.38 version

That's right one then, but are you sure you give permission to 755?

if not, go by telnet in /var/bin of your dm500s and give permission 755 to your mgcamd file.
> chmod 755 namefile
("namefile" depends on mgcamd name you have)

fixed it must have been an issue with image reflashed and now mgcamd 1.38 works

also I will be moving over to a dm800 so the e2 version of this 1.38 will open up Bulsat with keys,
