The Love Guru

Pitka an American raised outside of his country by gurus, returns to the United States in order to break into the self-help business. His first challenge: To settle the romantic troubles and subsequent professional skid of a star hockey player whose wife left him for a rival athlete. Orphaned at a young age, Maurice studies with Guru Tugginmypuddha at an ashram in India where his classmate is a young Deepak Chopra. Pitka becomes a world-renowned guru in his own right, but despite his best efforts, he repeatedly comes in second to Chopra in the guru rankings. But his manager has a plan: the only difference between Pitka and Chopra is that the latter has appeared on the Oprah Show. Pitka's key to an Oprah show appearance is Darren Roanoke, star player of the Toronto Maple Leafs hockey team. Estranged from his wife, Prudence, who has started ****** French-Canadian Jacques "Le Coq" Grande, Roanoke's game has suffered terribly, putting his team's bid for the playoffs and the Stanley Cup in jeopardy. If Pitka can reunite the estranged couple in time for Roanoke to help win the Stanley Cup, he'll get more than just a big paycheck; he'll finally be on Oprah. Mike Myers created Guru Pitka after embarking on his own spiritual search following the death of his father. He counts Chopra, who appears briefly in the film, as a personal friend. Jessica Alba stars as the owner of the Maple Leafs, and Verne Troyer is their coach. The movie also has brief appearances from Jessica Simpson, Val Kilmer, Mariska Hargitay, Kanye West, and even Mike Myers himself. This movie is rated PG-13 for crude and sexual content throughout, language, some comic violence and drug references.

The Bourne Supremacy

The Bourne Supremacy continues the story of Jason Bourne, an amnesiac and former CIA assassin most likely from the Special Activities Division, and his attempt to learn more of his shadowy past as he is once more enveloped in a conspiracy surrounding the CIA and Operation Treadstone. Bourne, a former assassin for a now disbanded group within the CIA known as Treadstone, now lives on the run with Marie, but is drawn back into the operative's world of cross and double-cross after being attacked by a no-nonsense assassin and framed for the murder of two men who were under the surveillance of the CIA in Berlin. Playing cat-and-mouse with agents from both the pre- and post-Glasnost era, Bourne races to work out what connects him to a long-dead Russian reformist politician named Neski. As he crosses paths with sly old Treadstone colleague Ward Abbott and the younger Agent Pamela Landy, Bourne must decide whether his nightmare past should be avenged or expiated. The stakes are now even higher for the agent as he coolly maneuvers through the dangerous waters of international espionage - replete with CIA plots, turncoat agents and ever-shifting covert alliances - all the while hoping to find the truth behind his haunted memories and answers to his own fragmented past. Premiered in US theatres in 2004, "The Bourne Supremacy" is a film that combines the elements of action, adventure, mystery and thriller. The movie is loosely based on the Robert Ludlum novel of the same name. The film is directed by Paul Greengrass, and written by Tony Gilroy and Brian Helgeland. With a production budget of US$ 75 millions, the film's gross worldwide box office revenues amounted to US$ 288 millions. The film won 2005 ASCAP Award for Top Box Office Films and Empire Award for Best Actor (Matt Damon) in 2005, and was nominated for 2005 Saturn Award for Best Action/thriller film. Tropic Thunder

Tropic Thunder is a mockumentary trailing director Damien Cockburn (Steve Coogan) and his egotistical cast as he films a Vietnam-era war epic. The picture is based upon a memoir penned by John 'Four Leaf' Tayback (Nick Nolte), a veteran who lost his hands in combat. Studio executives are threatening to sack Cockburn, whose inability to tame his unruly cast caused the production to fall a month behind schedule. Tayback suggests filming in a Vietnamese jungle to evoke a more realistic performance from the actors. Cockburn and the crew travel by helicopter deep into Vietnam's jungles. Numerous cameras are situated around the perimeter, recording each individual's actions, both scripted and unscripted. Before Cockburn is even able to yell "action," however he steps onto a landmine that propels his body parts in multiple directions. The film's producer and co-star, Tugg Speedman (Ben Stiller) convinces his fellow cast members that Cockburn is not dead, and that the explosion was an elaborate hoax – despite finding his severed head nearby. Regardless, from this point forward Speedman assumes the role of director. The surrounding jungle appears uninhabited and tranquil, yet the cast has unknowingly entered territory claimed by the Flaming Dragons, a large-scale heroin manufacturer who mistakes the thesps for DEA agents. Similarly, the visitors from Tinseltown assume that the Dragons are hired actors to participate in combat scenes. When Speedman and the others begin emptying blank bullets into the air, the Dragons return fire with live ammunition. Soon the crew realizes that rehearsal has ended, and that this is definitely not a movie set. Tropic Thunder ridicules performers who depict heroes on screen and then foolishly attempt to maintain a similar persona in real-life. For example rapper turned actor Alpa Chino (Brandon T. Jackson) professes to be the ultimate womanizing gangster, yet is a closeted homosexual. The picture also lampoons actors whose supposed dedication to their craft borders on insanity, specifically Kirk Lazarus (Robert Downey, Jr.) who chemically alters his skin and adopts a questionably 'black' dialect, while refusing to break character throughout weeks of filming. The Stiller-directed pic was nominated for an Oscar and 2 Golden Globes. By the end of its theatrical run the film earned twice its $92 million production budget; DVD sales generated an additional $49 million. Soundtrack includes artists such as Quiet Riot, The Temptations, Steppenwolf, The Rolling Stones and many others. Rating: Rated R for pervasive language including sexual references, violent content, and drug material.

House of Wax

Florida University students Carly (Elisha Cuthbert) and Paige (Paris Hilton) accompany their boyfriends, Wade (Jared Padalecki) and Blake (Robert Ri'chard) respectively to a highly anticipated football game in nearby Louisiana. During the night, the students and their two guests Nick (Chad Michael Murray) and Dalton (Jon Abrahams) use an empty field for some much needed rest. The group is awakened later by a truck's headlights, shining blatantly in their direction. Frustrated, Nick tosses a bottle at the vehicle, knocks out its headlight, and causes the truck to leave. Its driver was not deterred so easily though: the next morning the kids discover that their fan belt has been damaged -- a strange thing to break on a parked car. Rather than wait for Carly and Wade to repair their car, the other football fans hitch a ride to Louisiana. Wade and Carly are left in the care of an animal carcass remover named Lester (Damon Herriman), who offers to drive the kids to Ambrose -- the nearest town where they can obtain a fan belt. Things quickly go awry upon their arrival however, as they discover that the town is solely inhabited by frighteningly realistic wax figurines. House of Wax was a commercial success, earning $70 million at the box office. The picture was nominated for 7 Teen Choice Awards and an MTV Movie Award. Its soundtrack features My Chemical Romance, Deftones, Joy Division, The Stooges, and Marilyn Manson. Rating: Rated R for horror violence, some sexual content, and explicit language.

FREEDOMLAND

When Brenda Martin enters a hospital emergency room bloodied and hysterical, Officer Lorenzo Council quickly arrives to investigate. The woman claims she was carjacked not far from a housing project daycare center, where she regularly volunteers. Strangely, it takes her time to mention that a black man, presumed to be living nearby, kidnapped her son during the ordeal. Almost immediately police are on the scene searching for the suspect. Brenda’s brother, Danny is a police officer in a neighboring, predominately white district. When he learns that his nephew is missing Danny dispatches a crew of officers to surround the project, sealing it up completely. This naturally raises the eyebrows of African-American community leaders, who never see this degree of police interest when a black man or woman is murdered. Police eventually find a man who fits the kidnapper’s description. Rather than interrogate him, he is kicked and beaten unmercifully by Brenda’s brother. It is later determined that he is not the right man, and set free. Tensions continue to grow at the housing project however, and a riot breaks out between its occupants and the mostly white police officers surrounding it. After the police department depleted all of its resources on the case, they prepare to seek help from federal authorities. At Lorenzo’s request, however, this decision is stalled. Instead he contacts Karen Collucci, the founding member of support group for mothers of missing children. She accompanies Lorenzo and Brenda as they search the only remaining location the child may be: a rundown insane asylum known as Freedomland. An emotional conversation between Brenda and Karen, along with the hospital’s gloomy atmosphere may help to unearth the child’s whereabouts. Rated R for explicit language and some violent content.

Orange County

Once a surfer with no goals in life, the death of his best bud caused Orange County native Shaun Brumder (Colin Hanks) to start anew. More influential, however, was discovering a book by author Marcus Skinner that inspired Brumder to become a writer. Nearing his high school graduation, Shaun hopes to attend his literary hero's alma mater, Stanford University. Unfortunately, a dimwitted guidance counselor's error results in the teenager's devastating rejection. Shaun's girlfriend, Ashley (Schuyler Fisk) uses personal connections to earn the aspiring writer a home interview with a Stanford board member. This proves disastrous, as the interviewer is frightened away by Brumder's alcoholic mother, Cindy (Catherine O'Hara) and his pothead brother, Lance (Jack Black). A plea for his wealthy father (John Lithgow) to make a generous contribution to the university falls on deaf ears; dad is unsupportive of his son's career aspirations -- to put it mildly. Lance soon becomes his brother's unlikely ally, and volunteers to drive Shaun to Stanford to meet face-to-face with its dean of admissions. Upon their arrival faculty members are inadvertently drugged with ecstasy, secretaries seduced, and campus buildings set ablaze. Whether or not Lance's brother gains admission to Stanford though, remains to be seen. Orange County was a box office success, garnering $41 million internationally -- more than double its cost of production. The picture was nominated for an MTV Movie Award and a Teen Choice Award. Soundtrack features familiar pop artists like The Offspring, Foo Fighters, and Jimmy Eat World. Rating: Rated PG-13 for drug content, explicit language, and sexuality.

The Usual Suspects

The Usual Suspects is an intricately plotted and suspenseful tale about five very different crime suspects who meet while in a police line-up. After the quintets fortuitous encounter, they decide to band together and attempt their own big heist by robbing a smuggler of $3 million worth of emeralds. However, the following job proves much more dangerous. Their success brings them to the attention of the enigmatic Keyser Soze, an unseen, nefarious, and mythic underworld crime figure who coerces them into pulling off an important and highly dangerous job. The scenes that follow make the film one of the most fascinating crime thrillers in cinema history. Working from the Oscar-winning screenplay by Christopher McQuarrie, Singer adroitly tells the complex story through flashbacks, cross-cutting, and voice-over narration. Such nimble handling of the intricacies of the nonlinear narrative adds to the suspense, leaving viewers on the edge of their seats until the clever, satisfying finale. Singer's expertise in the technical aspects of filmmaking--his use of a dioptic filter to keep two close-up faces in focus, as well as his inventive use of six-frame step printing--helped him earn his reputation as a visually impressive and stylish director. Christopher McQaurrie picked up an Oscar and a BAFTA for his work as a screenwriter, and Kevin Spacey also picked up an Oscar and a Golden Globe for Best Acting in a Supporting Role. The Usual Suspects was also acknowledged as the tenth best mystery film by the American Film Institute. Verbal Kint was voted the #48 villain in the AFI's AFI's 100 Years... 100 Heroes and Villains in June 2003. Entertainment Weekly cited the film as one of the 13 must-see heist movies. Ray

Jamie Foxx stars in this biopic of legendary soul and R&B singer Ray Charles. The story weaves in and out of the past in an interlocking tapestry of the man's rise to fame in the 1950s and '60s. Growing up poor, black, and blind in the rural south, Charles learns--under the tutelage of his tough-love mother --to turn these obstacles into assets. With this training, Ray eventually plays his way into a major deal with Paramount records and earns icon status as an American legend. He'd come of age musically. He'd made it to Carnegie Hall. The hit records "Georgia," "Born to Lose" successively kept climbing to the top of the charts. He'd made his first triumphant European concert tour in 1960 - a feat which, except for 1965, he's repeated at least once a year ever since. He had taken virtually every form of popular music and broken through its boundaries with such awe inspiring achievements as the LP's "Genius Plus Soul Equals Jazz" and "Modern Sounds in Country & Western." Rhythm & blues became universally respectable through his efforts. Jazz found a mainstream audience it had never previously enjoyed. And country & western music began to chart an unexpected course to general acceptance. Along the way, the high cost of fame leads him to engage in abusive relationships, manipulative behaviour, and struggles with drug and alcohol problems. The triumphant and remarkable story of one of America's true musical geniuses. Jamie Foxx, Regina King, and Kerry Washington star in this biography of Ray Charles. This movie is rated PG-13 for depiction of drug addiction, sexuality and some thematic elements.

Soon after his fiancée Carla Pestalozzi announces that she is pregnant, Stanley gets a call from FBI director James Womack. Womack tells Stanley that San Francisco's Alcatraz Island has been taken hostage, along with 81 tourists, by marine General Francis Xavier Hummel who, for years, has been protesting the government's refusal to pay benefits to families of war veterans who died during covert military operations. The death of his wife Barbara Hummel on March 9, 1995 drove General Hummel over the edge, and now he's holding hostages in order to get his point across. Stanley is needed because General Hummel has stolen some VX gas warheads and has announced that he will launch them onto San Francisco unless his demands are met. Will Smith is Chris Gardner, a father struggling to take care of his young son. In San Francisco circa 1981, Chris’s luck has run out. MR. BROOKS

Kevin Costner portrays Mr. Earl Brooks, a business executive whose alter ego, Marshall (William Hurt) pressures him to commit random killings. After a two year hiatus Marshall has returned to haunt Brooks, and subsequently persuades him to commit another murder. Costner's character has been dubbed the 'Thumbprint Killer' by authorities, a reference to the trademark he leaves behind at each crime scene: the bloodied thumbprints of his victims on a lampshade. Brooks realizes that Marshall is a figment of his imagination, though traditional psychiatric treatment is not a viable option since it would lead to self-incrimination. To compensate, he attends a 12-step program for recovering alcoholics, secretly replacing an addiction to booze with his homicidal obsession. The strategy, at least until recently, was successful. Detective Tracy Atwood (Demi Moore) is confounded by the killings. Brooks cleans each murder scene meticulously, and burns his clothing immediately afterward, leaving no substantial evidence or witnesses behind. That changes when a peeping Tom nicknamed 'Mr. Smith' (Dane Cook) witnesses Brooks break into an apartment and slay a couple engaged in sex. Rather than extort the Thumbprint Killer for cash however, Smith begs to accompany the murderer during his next execution. Brooks reluctantly agrees. Meanwhile the businessman's daughter, Jane (Danielle Panabaker) follows in her father's footsteps, returning home from college after she is implicated in another student's murder. Dad takes drastic measures to divert Detective Atwood's attention away from Jane, while simultaneously pondering how to cure her emerging addiction before it is beyond repair. When Mr. Smith assists Brooks in a future killing, the newbie assassin leaves behind damning forensic evidence that may destroy both men's lives. Mr. Brooks recuperated more than twice its $20 million budget, earning a total of $48 million internationally. The picture's success, coupled with cult fandom has raised rumors of a potential sequel. Director Bruce Evans is certainly interested, and hopes that the film to be the first in a trilogy. Rating: Rated R for strong bloody violence, some graphic sexual content, nudity, and language.

This movie is rated R for violence and a substantial amount of strong language.

I Love You, Man

Peter Klaven (Paul Rudd) has found the perfect woman, Zooey Rice (Rashida Jones) and he intends to marry her. A successful real estate agent, Klaven is counting on selling a property owned by bodybuilder Lou Ferrigno to finance the wedding and the couple's new home. Before the ceremony is even announced though Peter faces an interesting dilemma: while some men may have difficulty choosing a best man, Rudd's character struggles to find one at all. Throughout his life Peter has always had a girlfriend. Whenever he needed a shoulder to lean on, he tended to seek advice from his sister, mother, or another woman; it's not that he avoided having male friends, but female acquaintances simply seemed more accessible. As he aged, Peter realized that the men he considered friends were actually nothing more than business associates or coworkers. When he attempted to become closer to male associates both parties left feeling awkward. Zooey and her girlfriends are, strangely enough, demanding that Peter locate friends of the same sex before their wedding however. Even Klaven's gay brother, Robbie (Andy Samberg) and elderly grandpa agree that the event could be lacking significant testosterone levels. With Robbie's help, Peter has a number of 'man dates' that are designed to help the husband-to-be find his best man. Nearly all of the arrangements are either incredibly uncomfortable or complete blunders. Then Klaven meets Sydney Fife (Jason Segel) at an open house event for Ferrigno. Fife readily admits he's not there to buy the home, but to hunt for women and eat free snacks. His unrestrained reactions and blunt opinions appeal to Peter; the pair are even equally enthusiastic about the band Rush. Strangely, the man who was once incapable of befriending another man finds himself spending a disproportionate amount of time with Sydney, and Klaven's relationship with Zooey is suffering as a result. I Love You, Man was a commercial success, earning $91 million at the box office -- more than twice its $40 million budget. The picture was nominated for an MTV Movie Award and 3 Teen Choice Awards. Its soundtrack features artists such as The Black Keys, Beck, The Cars, The Donnas, and many more. Rating: Rated R for pervasive language, including crude and sexual references.

LAKEVIEW TERRACE

Chris Mattson (Patrick Wilson) and Lisa Mattson (Kerry Washington) are a happily married couple who recently tied the knot. They have also made an important first step toward starting a family by purchasing their first home, located in a seemingly friendly Los Angeles suburb. The neighborhood is also presumably secure, especially since a police officer lives next door. Officer Abel Turner (Samuel L. Jackson) is a rigid and conservative single father of two children. He is less than welcoming to his new neighbors however, greeting Chris one afternoon by holding a gun to his head. No worries, the concerned cop is only giving the newcomer a safety lesson and self defense tips -- albeit in a very strange manner. Turner also lectures Mattson on the perils of smoking and, oddly enough -- racial identity. Chris does not think too deeply about the incident, and instead assumes that Abel merely enjoys dark humor. It soon becomes evident that Turner is definitely not joking, but hellbent to scare his new neighbors away. His motive for doing so is clear: Chris and Lisa are an interracial couple and due to a past tragedy, he cannot endure seeing a white man with a black woman. When Abel accidentally oversees the pair making love in their swimming pool, he transforms his anger into physical action. Turner installs a blindingly bright security light outside of his home, aimed directly into the Mattsons' bedroom window. Sleep is impossible. When Chris kindly asks the officer to remove the light, he insists that it is necessary to keep burglars away. A few days later, in the blistering heat, Lisa finds that someone has sabotaged their air conditioner. The couple's car tires were also slashed, but calls for the police to investigate remained largely ignored. As each day passes Abel grows increasingly psychotic and desperate to get rid of the Mattsons. Despite opposition from Lisa, Chris begins to fight back against the crooked man in blue. He installs his own security light, aimed directly into Turner's window; he also purchases dozens of trees and plants to form a barrier between the two homes. Meanwhile the tension Abel creates begins to push Lisa and Chris apart, complicated by the former's insistence to immediately have a child. All of this culminates into a tremendous physical and emotional battle, where audiences' expectations are constantly in flux as each character's intentions are put under a microscope. Lakeview Terrace earned $42 million internationally in addition to $20 million in DVD sales, tripling its budget and deeming it a commercial success. The soundtrack features plenty of Hip-Hop tracks by notable artists like Nas, Public Enemy, Wu Tang Clan, and many more. Rating: Rated PG-13 for intense thematic material, violence, sexuality, explicit language and some drug references.

Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgandy

It's the early 1970s and the local anchorman is not only a source of news but a revered local hero. In San Diego, Ron Burgundy, a mustachioed bachelor with a taste for scotch, unparalleled passion for the jazz flute, and a near-telepathic connection with his spirited mutt, Baxter, is that man. Rounding out Ron's testosterone-heavy news team are his close friends--cologne-obsessed man-on-the-street Brian Fantana, sports reporter Champ Kind, and mentally challenged weatherman Brick Tamland. Their male camaraderie is challenged, though, when producer Ed Harken, pressured by changing times, brings the first female reporter, ambitious Veronica Corningstone, to the team. Ron finds his chauvinistic ideals compromised further when he starts falling in love with her. Fueled by Ferrell's singularly loopy persona, Anchorman joins the long list of comedies which have successfully poked fun at the styles and mores of the '70s. This movie is rated PG-13 for sexual humor, language and comic violence.

REVOLVER

Professional criminal Jake Green (Jason Statham) had amassed millions before gangster and casino owner Dorothy Macha (Ray Liotta) sent him to prison. Green spent seven years locked in solitary confinement, where his only companions were the faceless voices of two inmates adjacent to his cell. They played rounds of chess to pass time, but not solely for recreational purposes: the game served as a metaphor for an elaborate, foolproof gambling technique. This system dubbed 'the formula' was not just applicable to games, but a philosophical approach to conqueror one's greatest fears and shortcomings. Before an individual can play a game successfully, he or she must learn its rules, practice, and eventually battle against its most skillful competitors. A player must accept failure as an unavoidable component of eventual success; the rules cannot be devoured at once, but must unfold sequentially as a lesson. Before Jake could utilize the formula himself however, he was inevitably outwitted by his teachers. Together the three prisoners conceived an elaborate escape plan; unfortunately Green was left behind to complete his sentence. Even more devastating, he later discovers that both men had emptied his secret stockpile of cash. Strangely, neither action was committed maliciously. Upon release Green joins his senior brother and accountant, Billy (Andrew Howard). Together the brothers speedily accumulate a fortune. Throughout his renascent Jake refuses to forget Macha's earlier misdeed, and eventually seizes an opportunity to humiliate the casino tycoon. This marks the beginning of yet another lesson. Like before Jake must start from scratch, an unavoidable step before mastering the formula. The rules and opponents increase in complexity, and success is never guaranteed -- nor are second chances. Rating: Rated R for violence, explicit language and some nudity.

In Bruges

Colin Farrell portrays Ray, a first-time hired hit man whose target is a priest. He successfully completes his mission, but makes a grave mistake by accidentally killing a young boy. Public outcry and an increased police presence causes Ray's boss, Harry Waters (Ralph Fiennes) to send the rookie gunman to Bruges, Belgium to hideout. In Belgium Ray is accompanied by his partner in crime, a tenured though fatherly assassin named Ken (Brendan Gleeson). While Ray remains depressed over the child's death, Ken maintains a jovial attitude and forces the former to partake in sightseeing with him. Farrell's character grows increasingly bored in the small, though historic town, and even more annoyed by Ken's constant presence. A new female acquaintance eases the young man's grief to some extent, however. Chloë Villette (Clémence Poésy) juggles her time as a smalltime drug peddler while working as a movie production assistant. The pair click, but Ray is inevitably unable to shake the guilt of the boy's death. He begins to reason that suicide is an ideal, and perhaps only acceptable form of atonement. Mustering up the courage to actually pull the trigger is difficult though, and the toughened Ken at one point persuades his partner to forgo killing himself. Even if Ray can clear his guilty conscious sans suicide a bigger problem remains. Harry believes that killing an innocent bystander is an inexcusable offense, and ethics demand the murderer's own sacrifice in return. This is a hit man code of honor that Harry asserts should be upheld even for himself. Waters makes the trek to Bruges intending to kill Ray, but doing so is much easier said than done. In Bruges was a commercial and critical success, garnering $33 million globally -- more than twice its cost of production. The picture was an Oscar nominee and earned a Golden Globe. Carter Burwell of Twilight and Where The Wild Things Are notoriety scored the film. Rating: Rated R for strong bloody violence, pervasive language, and some drug use.

VANTAGE POINT

U.S. President Henry Ashton (William Hurt) travels to Salamanca, Spain to show his support for a worldwide initiative against terrorism. Heads of state from dozens of nations are also present, all prepared to address the crowded town square. Before the president can begin his speech however, he is shot. Despite elaborate planning, the Secret Service is dumbfounded and rushes to find the assailant amongst thousands of attendees. Their hunt is immediately interrupted though when a bomb detonates near the stage’s podium, killing a news reporter. Amidst this chaos witnesses panic, and focus their attention on multiple locations, people, and events. There are many recollections of what occurred, but none of the reports corroborate. One account is from Howard Lewis (Forest Whitaker), an American tourist attempting to escape family troubles back home. As disorder unfolds his camera continues to record. Authorities are ecstatic at first, though less enthused when they discover that Lewis’ footage is largely irrelevant to the case. Dennis Quaid portrays Thomas Barnes, a Secret Service agent who thwarted an earlier attempt to assassinate the president. Barnes was wounded in the process, leading some of his colleagues to question his mental stability; the Salamanca assignment is his first after a year of sick leave. Enrique (Eduardo Noriega) is a plain clothes police officer assigned to protect the forum’s moderator, Salamanca’s Mayor De Soto (Jose Carlos Rodriguez). When Ashton is shot Enrique runs toward the stage to protect the mayor, only to be tackled by Barnes and his colleague; neither agent was aware that De Soto had his own security personnel. While the Secret Service gives Enrique a physical thrashing, his girlfriend Veronica abuses him emotionally by beginning an affair with another man. Lastly there is the president and his attackers. Ashton’s revelations lead to an interesting twist, while his foes reveal the crime’s procedure, and viewers decide whether or not authorities can eventually connect the dots. Vantage Point was a commercial success, recuperating nearly four times its $40 million production budget.

Exorcist: The Beginning

Years before Father Lancaster Merrin helped save Regan MacNeil's soul, he first encounters the demon Pazuzu in East Africa. This is the tale of Father Merrin's initial battle with Pazuzu and the rediscovery of his faith. Archeologist Lankester Merrin is asked to go to East Africa to excavate a church that has been found completely buried in sand. Merrin is also an ordained Roman Catholic priest who, still haunted by what he was forced to do during World War II in his native Holland, eschews any religion or belief. He's fascinated by what he finds and that it dates hundreds of years before Christianity was introduced to the area. Accompanied by a young priest, Father Francis, to keep an eye on the religious elements of what they find, Merrin makes his way to the camp. There he meets a young doctor, Sarah and soon realizes there is an air of gloom that envelops the entire site. Workmen go mad and a young boy is mauled by a pack of hyenas while completely ignoring his younger brother Joseph. Inside the church itself they find signs of desecration. Merrin is forced to re-examine his lack of faith and come face to face with the devil. This movie is rated R for strong violence and gore, disturbing images and rituals, and for language including some sexual dialogue.

Ben Campbell is a young, highly intelligent, student at M.I.T. in Boston who strives to succeed. Wanting a scholarship to transfer to Harvard School of Medicine with the desire to become a doctor, Ben learns that he cannot afford the $300,000 for the four to five years of schooling as he comes from a poor, working-class background. But one evening, Ben is introduced by his unorthodox math professor Micky Rosa into a small but secretive club of five. Students Jill, Choi, Kianna, and Fisher, who are being trained by Professor Rosa of the skill of card counting at blackjack. Intrigued by the desire to make money, Ben joins his new friends on secret weekend trips to Las Vegas where, using their skills of code talk and hand signals, they have Ben make hundreds of thousands of dollars in winning blackjack at casino after casino. Kevin Spacey is crafty MIT professor Micky Rosa, who trains brainiac students to count cards and then flies them out to Vegas to raid the blackjack tables between classes. At first they rake in a bundle, but then catch the unwanted attention of tough-guy security chief, Cole Williams who wants to prove himself before he's replaced by face recognition software. Ben originally joins the ring in order to come up with the $300,000 he needs for tuition money, but he's also gaga over the ring's resident babe, Jill. When he finds out Professor Rosa hasn't been dealing entirely from a straight deck, Ben's high-end shopping spree dreams turn sour (though card counting is not illegal) and the battle of wits is on, no second chances given. 21 is inspired by the true story of five students who changed the game forever.

This movie is rated R for violence and a substantial amount of strong language.

Will Smith is Chris Gardner, a father struggling to take care of his young son. In San Francisco circa 1981, Chris’s luck has run out. A bad business investment, a bevy of parking tickets, and back taxes in addition to rent, childcare, and groceries keep him constantly scrambling for cash. MR.

THE LOOKOUT

Chris Pratt (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) was a promising teenage hockey player from a prominent family. The future seemed inevitably bright for him until a childish car stunt ruined his life, and ended the lives of two others. While driving his shiny Camaro down a pitch-black rural road, Chris tries to impress his girlfriend, Kelly (Laura Vandervoort) and two other passengers by driving without headlights. Things go smooth for a short time, but he fails to see a combine harvester stopped in the middle of the road, and subsequently strikes it at full speed. The car is shattered and so is the young man's future. For the next few years Chris is confined to a hospital bed after suffering massive head injuries. Fortunately he is not paralyzed, but he incurs a permanent case of amnesia; more specifically, Chris can remember events, but not necessarily their chronology. That means simple tasks like finding one's keys are constantly difficult for him. In another sad turn of events Chris' wealthy family has for all intents and purposes abandoned him. He lives alone with Lewis (Jeff Daniels), a blind man and companion who helps the former hockey champ reconstruct his thoughts. Lewis eventually suggests that Chris begin carrying a notebook where he details not just what tasks need to be completed, but also what he should have been doing both before and after beginning a particular task. Given both men's handicaps they have an especially non-judgmental relationship, a quality seldom present in a society obsessed with self-image. Despite Chris' condition and the availability of disability benefits he insists on living a productive life. His inconsistent memory prevents him from attending college or obtaining a high paying job; nonetheless he works each night at a local bank sweeping its floors, dreaming of one day becoming a teller – no matter how unlikely that may be. While life is not perfect for the custodian it is at least tolerable. Like any man, however, Chris would like to have a woman in his life. So when an old high school pal named Gary Spargo (Matthew Goode) attempts to hook him up with Luvlee Lemons (Isla Fisher), a former stripper, it is a unique opportunity. Luvlee, Gary, and his buddies begin spending more time with Chris, and he finally has someone other than Lewis to hang out with. His new girlfriend seems infatuated with him, though she begins planting seeds of economic inadequacy in his head, reinforcing his new insecurity with mantras such as, "the money is the power." That's when Gary and his gang ask Chris to help rob the bank where he works; all the meek janitor needs to do is let the guys in. Luvee, who is actually in cohorts with the men, insists that the heist is his ultimate ticket to paradise after years of misery. Eventually Chris succumbs to the pressure, but will his fantasies finally become reality? The Lookout's soundtrack contains tracks by some of indie rock's most prominent bands such as Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, My Morning Jacket, and The Black Keys. Critical response to the picture was extremely positive, earning it an 85% fresh rating amongst Rotten Tomatoes' top critics.

The House Bunny

At age 27 Shelley Darlington (Anna Faris) lives in the lap of luxury, housed for free in porn mogul Hugh Hefner's Playboy Mansion. Her greatest ambition is to become a centerfold in the magazine, and she certainly possesses the requisite beauty to do so. Or at least she thought. One day Shelley is abruptly booted from the mansion and thrust into homelessness. With no marketable skills or a college education, the former Playmate roams local streets in search of work. She encounters a group of young women resembling herself: well-dressed, good looking, and slightly ditzy. The girls are sorority members at a nearby university, and Shelley attempts to join them. Unsurprisingly the sorority denies Shelley's pledge, partly in arrogance but chiefly because she is not a student. When she comes across the sorority's middle-aged house moms, Shelley wonders how to obtain the same position. The snooty ladies quickly dismiss her, and suggest that she inquire at the abhorred Zeta Alpha Zeta sorority. The Zetas are a struggling organization comprised of female geeks, goths, and feminists with little interest in fashion or typical schoolgirl superficiality. Their dwindling membership makes them targets of college administration, who threaten to evict the Zetas unless they can obtain 30 official members. Initially the sorority is hesitant to hire Shelley as their house mom. However the girls quickly realize Shelley's potential as a boy magnet, who can help the socially awkward sisters meet otherwise inaccessible men. At the same time the shunned Playmate teaches the Zetas how to beautify themselves physically and socially, without compromising their intelligence or principles. As the Zetas rise in popularity, other sororities become increasingly jealous. Attempts to sabotage the group become more cunning, and the girls slowly let newfound fame inflate their egos. Will the Zetas implode after weeks of successful recruitment and refinement? The House Bunny was an international success, earning $70 million at box offices and easily recuperating its $25 million budget. Faris' role in the film earned her an MTV Movie Award nomination for best comedic performance. Its soundtrack features familiar tunes by Madonna, Rihanna, The Pussycat Dolls and many more.

The film opens with Baltimore City Fire Department (BCFD) firefighter Jack Morrison (Phoenix) saving a man's life in a burning warehouse. However, the grain being stored in the warehouse explodes, sending Jack tumbling several floors where he breaks his leg. The film follows the efforts of the other men in his unit lead by BCFD Deputy Chief Mike Kennedy (Travolta), his longtime mentor, to rescue him while Jack tries to reach a safe area of the burning structure. Interspersed with the current rescue efforts are a series of flashbacks showing how Jack joined the fire department, his meeting with the woman who would become his wife, his relationship with his children, and the bond he formed with his fellow firefighters. Rated PG-13 for intense fire and rescue situations, and for language.

Rambo IV

When a group of missionary aid workers in Myanmar disappear into the vast green inferno, vigilante Vietnam War veteran John Rambo leaves his job as a Salween River boatman behind to accompany a group of mercenaries on a daring rescue mission. It's been 20 years since Rambo helped mujahedeen rebels fend off Soviet invaders in Afghanistan, and these days the former soldier lives a simple life in northern Thailand. Meanwhile, the world's longest-running civil war rages into its 60th year on the nearby Thai-Burma border. One day, human rights missionaries Sarah Miller and Michael Burnett show up asking Rambo to guide them up the Salween so they can get some much-needed food and medical supplies to the desperate Karen tribe. According to Sarah and Michael, the Burmese military has planted land mines all along the roads leading into the tribe's village, making it virtually impossible to reach the tribe via land. Two weeks after Rambo drops the group off in dangerous territory, pastor Arthur Marsh arrives with a chilling message: the aid workers never returned from their mission into the jungle, and the embassies refuse to help Marsh and his fellow missionaries find their missing friends. Now, despite the fact that Rambo has long since sworn off all forms of violence, the knowledge that innocent missionaries are being used as pawns in a brutal war leaves him with no other choice than to venture behind enemy lines on his most dangerous mission to date. This movie is rated R for strong bloody graphic violence, sexual assaults, grisly images and language.

Outbreak

In 1967 a virus unlike any other descended upon a small village in Zaire, killing those it came in contact with almost instantaneously. Thirty years later the virus, Motaba, has returned to Zaire and extended its reach to the shores of North America. To truly confront Motaba the United States government must acknowledge its past and current experimentation with biological weaponry, and reveal a ruthless general's destruction of an entire African town three decades before. Unfortunately the general, Donald McClintock (Donald Sutherland) prefers to safeguard the military's darkest secrets rather than save the lives of his own countrymen. When Colonel Sam Daniels (Dustin Hoffman) learns that Motaba has resurfaced in Zaire, he immediately heads there to investigate; he informs General McClintock of the outbreak, but the later seems uninterested in acting, brushing it off as a mere isolated incident. The truth is that McClintock has synthesized a cure for the virus, and hopes that the new outbreak will allow him to test the antidote. Something much more sinister occurs instead though. A pet smuggler oblivious to the disease's danger brings a white-headed capuchin monkey to the US -- that happens to be infected with Motaba. Once the monkey arrives in America it begins spreading the virus to humans on both the country's coasts. Authorities are eventually able to quarantine those affected, though the cure previously in McClintock's possession is ineffective against Motaba's newly mutated American strain. The coldblooded general orders for all inhabitants of the quarantined area to be firebombed, just like their African counterparts years before. Daniels realizes that a cure can be synthesized though, assuming that the infected monkey can be located. This goes against McClintock's plans, who believes the military cannot acknowledge the disease's prior existence, or else implicate themselves in a continuing biological weapons program that it claimed ceased operations in the late 60s. Time is running out as Daniels attempts to save hundreds of lives, including his own after the general deems the colonel a wanted man. Outbreak earned $189 million internationally, nearly quadruple its $50 million budget. Rating: Rated R for explicit language.

SEVEN POUNDS

At what point does the act of redemption lead to self-destruction? Depending on one's misdeed, is self-destruction the ultimate form of redemption? Or is redemption itself merely a selfish attempt to alleviate guilt, despite an inability to physically reverse the damage of a past transgression? Could an act of redemption be simultaneously selfish and selfless, nullifying what ever good intent originally triggered one's desire to atone? Tim Thomas (Will Smith) faces this dilemma, living in a perpetual state of depression rooted in his own wrongdoing and an inability to correct it. While suicide is an understandable response to depression it is nonetheless a cowardly and selfish decision, that by itself cannot compensate for one's crimes against humanity. Capital punishment or monetary compensation is not a tit for tat solution either, since no amount of wealth or degree of revenge can change certain actions. So how should Tim respond to his predicament? What exactly is the protagonist's predicament anyway? Both of these questions are answered as the film progresses, but not before audiences are taken on an emotional and psychological roller coaster ride. Discussing anything but the plot's roughest details risks defeating the filmmaker's grand intention: to keep audiences oblivious to Tim's motivations, despite their continuously precise execution. With that in mind here is a vague description of Smith's character, a former aerospace engineer of great esteem unexplainably working as an IRS auditor instead. Either job should allow Tim to live comfortably, yet he chooses to occupy a dingy hotel room. He uses his status as an auditor to enter seemingly random taxpayers' lives and homes, gaining an intimate look into their everyday routines. But what for? And why in one instance does he needlessly taunt a blind man? His gentlemanly manner, loosely resembling serial killer Ted Bundy, suggests evil. In contrast the auditor's random acts of kindness seem saintly and intensely genuine. Tim's actions eventually present an unanswered philosophical question, almost guaranteeing that an animated post-viewing discussion will follow around the television. Seven Pounds was a box office success, generating over $166 million worldwide -- or three times its cost of production. Its soundtrack features Sly and the Family Stone and Diana Krall along with many other artists. Rating: Rated PG-13 for thematic material, some disturbing content, and a scene of sensuality.

Must Love Dogs

A forty-something preschool teacher looks to the personals for a change of pace and a relationship, with hilarious results. Must Love Dogs tells the story of Sarah Nolan, a newly divorced woman cautiously rediscovering romance with the enthusiastic but often misguided help of her well-meaning family. Eight months after getting divorced, downtrodden preschool teacher Sarah is wary of re-entering the ****** pool. Seeing her reluctance as a cry for help, Sarah's large, jovial family plans an intervention. While Sarah does not appreciate being bombarded by photographs and phone numbers of potential mates (half of whom are married), even she can see that her most meaningful relationship should not be with her brother's dog--a loveable Newfoundland named Mother Theresa. After Sara answers personal ads with less-than-thrilling results, her sister Carol takes things into her own hands, secretly posting an online-****** profile on Sarah's behalf. In a familiar montage of first-date scenarios, Sarah meets one unappealing prospective bachelor after another: one who can't stop talking about himself, another who can't stop crying, one with an affinity for bondage, etc. But when she meets recently divorced Jake, something clicks. While their meeting is somewhat awkward, it makes enough of an impression on Jake that he wants a second chance. From here, the two embark on a clumsy courtship complicated by misunderstandings, mishaps, and another equally charming suitor, Bob. While doing her best to navigate the unfamiliar world of modern-day romance, Sarah learns that sometimes finding Mr. Right means taking a chance. The Ghost Writer (2010)

Ewan McGregor portrays a struggling writer who, desperate for cash, agrees to ghost write for Adam Lang (Pierce Brosnan), a former British Prime Minister with an unusual allegiance to America. Some speculate that Lang is a CIA operative, and recent revelations suggest that he could be guilty of heinous war crimes. Shortly after agreeing to pen Lang's memoir, McGregor's character (who is never given a proper name) discovers that he was not the Prime Minister's first ghost writer. The former leader's previous penman died in a suspicious drowning at Martha's Vineyard, possibly after unearthing a troubling secret regarding Lang's rise to power. Despite fearing for his life, the ghost writer continues to dig deeper into the Prime Minister's past. While doing so, the author notices that he is under constant surveillance. Still he refuses to be deceived by Lang, and resists merely serving as the politician's pawn. The wordsmith's relentless curiosity, like his predecessor's, could cost him his life. The Ghost Writer was a commercial and critical success, earning $73 million at the box office -- easily recuperating its $45 million budget. It is a screen adaptation of Robert Harris' 2007 novel The Ghost. Rating: Rated PG-13 for explicit language, brief nudity/sexuality, some violence, and a drug reference.

Bo and Luke are aware of Boss Hogg's intentions however, and plan to use their smarts and complete disregard for authority to thwart his scheme. Uncle Jesse (Willie Nelson) is among the first affected by Hogg's sinister plot. Sheriff Coltrane uses Jesse's illegal moonshine manufacturing operation to seize the Dukes' farm. Now homeless, the family is forced to reside with Jesse's girlfriend, Pauline (Lynda Carter). The boys hear of another family targeted by the sheriff and Hogg, and begin an independent investigation that leads Luke and Bo to an Atlanta university. Meanwhile, back in Hazzard County the townspeople prepare for its famed annual road rally, whose guest of honor is stock-car racer Billy Prickett (James Roday). Much to Boss Hogg's delight the entire county will be in attendance, diverting their attention from a vote that could determine the community's future. Bo and Luke struggle to leave Atlanta in time to warn their neighbors of the County Commissioner's devious plan, but are arrested and jailed by university police. Will Hogg's dream of strip mining an entire county come true? The Dukes of Hazzard was a box office success, earning just over double its $50 million budget. The picture was nominated for 2 MTV Movie Awards and earned both a Teen Choice and People's Choice Award. Its soundtrack features southern rock and country anthems by Waylon Jennings, ZZ Top, The Allman Brothers Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd and many more. Rating: Rated PG-13 for sexual content, crude and drug-related humor, explicit language, and comic action violence.

Stanley Jobson is an elite hacker who infected the FBI's Carnivore program with a potent computer virus, delaying its deployment by several years. For this, he was arrested by Agent Roberts, convicted of computer crimes and spent two years in Leavenworth. A condition of his parole is that he is forbidden from touching, much less using, a computer. His ex-wife, Melissa, has sole custody over their daughter Holly and some form of restraining order against Stanley from seeing Holly. While at home in rural Texas practicing his golf swing, a woman named Ginger Knowles shows up to solicit his hacking skills for her boss Gabriel Shear. For an initial $100,000 he agrees to meet with Gabriel. Gabriel pressures Stanley to hack a government system in 60 seconds while at gun point. Although it was just a test (the gun was not loaded), Stanley succeeded in hacking the system, a feat that Gabriel had not anticipated. Gabriel reveals to Stanley that he works for an organization called the Black Cell, which is responsible for retaliatory attacks against terrorists who have attacked Americans. It is currently headed by Senator Reisman. Reisman discovers that the FBI has caught onto Gabriel and attempts to pull the plug. After Gabriel refuses to terminate plans, Reisman attempts to have Gabriel killed, which fails. Gabriel tracks the Senator down and kills him. Gabriel proceeds with his plan and takes hostages. After stealing the $9.5 billions, he boards the hostages and his crew on a bus out of the bank. Gabriel demands a plane at the local airport, and departs with his team in a helicopter which is shot down by Stanley. At the morgue, Stanley realizes it was more misdirection and Gabriel was not on the helicopter. The end of the film shows Ginger and Gabriel in Monte Carlo transferring that $9.5 billion into other accounts. Lethal Weapon 4

The ultimate buddy-cop duo returns for yet another round of action. Mel Gibson and Danny Glover appear again as detectives Martin Riggs and Roger Murtaugh, who in the span of six years have undergone many changes. Riggs has at last accepted his wife's death and entered a new relationship, this time with Internal Affairs officer Lorna Cole (Rene Russo). Marriage may be on the horizon for the couple, a thought taken into consideration as they await their child's birth. Murtaugh's family is growing too, as he prepares to become a grandfather and reluctantly embraces his son in law, a fellow cop depicted by Chris Rock. Captain Ed Murphy (Steve Kahan) is forced to 'promote' the detectives to a desk job, a decision prompted by the department's insurance company, who refuses to cover any future damages otherwise. Expectedly, Murphy's attempt to cage the detectives-turned-captains into office duties fails. Before the opening credits roll Murtaugh and Riggs manage to blow up an oil tanker truck and engage in fisticuffs, accompanied by their usual banter. Riggs and Murtaugh recently stymied a Chinese immigrant's human trafficking operation, hampering an elaborate scheme to auction off men and women as slave laborers. This angers one of Chinatown's most ruthless gangsters, Wah Sing Ku (Jet Li in his American debut) who vows to retaliate. The detectives and their families are now moving targets, and Murtaugh and Riggs will face off against a seemingly unbeatable adversary. Lethal Weapon 4 garnered $285 million at the box office, deeming it a commercial success. The third sequel earned 4 MTV Movie Award nominations. Its soundtrack features cuts from Van Halen, Eric Clapton, War, John Fogerty and many more. Rumors of a fourth sequel persist, yet no official announcements have ever been made.

Lord of war

Lord of War is a powerful film about one man demonstrating how to get rich selling warring nations the tools of their demise. Yuri Orlov is an opportunistic businessman who stumbled into an arms dealer's gold mine with the end of the Cold War and the lax border security due to the collapse of the Soviet Union. Huge caches of Soviet weapons became available at bargain prices, and even for free if one was not above stealing, and as literally billions of dollars' worth of Soviet military technology disappeared, it began finding its way into the hands of weapons dealers eager to sell it to the highest bidder. Orlov was one such dealer. He found plenty of buyers for guns and military gear in unstable warring Third World nations, who paid cash and did not appreciate too many questions. Most of these wars were staged to distract populations from the diamond and gem trades and exploit other raw materials of the developing nations. Orlov's exploits in the arms business quickly made him a very rich man, but have also led to some unwanted attention from Jack Valentine, an Interpol agent who is convinced Orlov is not playing by the rules. "Lord of War" won the Special Recognition Award of the US National Board of Review for excellence in filmmaking in 2005. With a production budget of US$ 42 million, the film's gross worldwide box office revenues amounted to US$ 72 million. This film is rated R for strong violence, drug use, language and sexuality.

FLAWLESS

In the late 1950s and early 60s a female executive struggling to get ahead in a male dominated world was not only rare, but nearly impossible. Laura Quinn (Demi Moore) works for the fictional London Diamond Corporation, the world’s largest distributor of diamonds; without their services, jewelers across the globe would experience a major shortage of the precious stones. After being passed up for a number of important promotions Quinn is ready to quit. Before she can do that, however, the company’s friendly janitor Mr. Hobbs (Michael Caine) passes her surprising news. While cleaning, Hobbs overheard a manager’s decision to sack Quinn. Fear not though, because the cockney custodian has a seemingly fail proof scheme that will grant both workers revenge. With Hobbs’ thorough knowledge of the company’s layout and security system, and Quinn’s easy access to secured areas, the two plan to steal just enough diamonds to make themselves rich, though not raise anyone’s eyebrows. For Hobbs this heist will serve as his pension – or so he claims. Rather than take only a few diamonds he instead raids the entire collection; unfortunately he fails to relay this information to Quinn. When the diamond company discovers their missing jewels a detective named Finch (Lambert Wilson) attempts to track down the thieves. Rightfully so, his investigation leads him to Quinn, though he has no concrete evidence to prove her involvement. As the search progresses, Quinn’s former employer frantically struggles to keep the theft a secret, knowing that their clients – particularly those from Russia, would take their business elsewhere upon discovering such a major mishap. Though not a blockbuster, Flawless was generally well received by critics. The picture’s soundtrack features the jazz sounds of Dave Brubeck. Fans of the retro television series Mad Men will likely appreciate the film’s throwback style. Rated PG-13 for some explicit language.

A Good Year

Max Skinner is a ruthless stock market trader who would likely betray his own mother if the price was right. As a youth Max was extremely close to his uncle Henry, a well-to-do owner of a beautiful vineyard. Henry, both directly and indirectly taught Max the skills he would later use to amass his own fortune. The château would serve as a second home for Max, and Henry would in many respects function as the boy’s second father. When Henry passes away he leaves Max the valuable estate in his will, which was drafted 20 years before his death. Despite Max’s close relationship with Henry he lets greed overpower him. Max does not stop to think that the gift was a trust from his uncle, and that he believed his loving nephew would inherit and properly maintain the estate. In contrast, he makes a spur of the moment trip to Provence in order to photograph the property and then deliver the pictures to his realtor. He intends that the visit will last only a few hours and is mindful that he must travel to Britain the same day, or else lose his job. As fate would have it Max misses his flight in a most peculiar way. While surveying the property he makes the boyish decision to step onto a diving board positioned over a deep, empty, and muddy pool. Before reaching the tip of the board it snaps, and a suited Max is covered in mud. To make matters worse the walls are too high to climb and he can do nothing but wait for a potential rescuer. That rescuer arrives in the form of a beautiful woman, local bicyclist Fanny Chenal. Since Max misses his business appointment in England he is put on suspension for a week. Rather than return home, he decides to briefly relax at his boyhood retreat. During that time he forms a bond with Fanny and meets a then unknown cousin, Christie Roberts. He must also calm the winery’s inhabitants, husband and wife Francis and Ludivine Duflot who have spent most of their lives alongside Henry as his workers. Francis is particularly afraid of losing the vineyard, which he cherishes as if it were his own. During his time in France Max is forced to look himself in the mirror and question his existence and life goals. Whether or not he will make the most morally sound decision is unclear. What is clear, however, is that he will realize once and for all that money is not everything. This movie is rated PG-13 for language and some sexual content.

Jen Kornfeldt (Katherine Heigl) has just been dumped by her boyfriend. To distract herself, she accompanies her mother (Catherine O'Hara) and father (Tom Selleck) on a business trip to Nice, France. Not long after arriving she encounters a shirtless, muscular man while entering a hotel elevator and is immediately drawn to him. The handsome stranger is Spencer Aimes (Ashton Kutcher), who like Mr. Kornfeldt, is in Nice on business. Later that night Jen and Spencer meet, and eventually Mr. Kornfeldt is introduced to his daughter's newest love interest. Mr. Kornfeldt is notorious for interrogating Jen's prospective boyfriends, and does not treat Kutcher's character any differently. Surprisingly though, Aimes earns dad's seal of approval. Within a matter of months Jen and Spencer tie the knot. Three years later Jen and Spencer's marriage remains blissful, and they live a picturesque life in suburbia. Aimes begins exhibiting unhappiness however, and grows distant and uninterested in his wife. Jen's girlfriends suggest that another woman has entered her husband's life, a suspicion she slowly accepts. While Spencer is concealing a troubling secret, it has nothing to do with infidelity. Before marrying Jen, Aimes worked as a trained assassin. In fact, his initial visit to Nice involved an unsuccessful assassination attempt. Since then Spencer abandoned his trade, but former boss (Martin Mull) has recently reinitiated contact with the retired hit man. Now a gang of killers are thirsty for his blood, and a pregnant Jen could get caught in the crossfire. That is unless she toughens up and joins Spencer as he fights off his would-be killers, who are quite literally on every corner. Killers was a moderate box office success, garnering $98 million at theaters and recovering its generous $75 million budget. Kutcher earned a Teen Choice Award for his performance in the film, while it was nominated for Teen Choice Comedy Movie of the year. The picture's soundtrack features songs from Tag Team, Macy Gray, and many others. Rating: Rated PG-13 for violent action, sexual material, and explicit language.

Slumdog Millionaire

Slumdog Millionaire takes a trip in to the shantytowns of India and shines a spotlight on to the less desirable elements of life including prostitution, class struggles, police brutality, and lack of opportunity Jamal (Dev Patel) and Salim Malik (Madhur Mittal) are two brothers orphaned after they lost their mother in a series of attacks on Bombay’s Muslims in 1993. With no parents the two are, from their earliest years, forced into a life of initially petty crime, including theft of tourists’ shoes and posing as an expert tour guide at the magnificent Taj Mahal. In their teenage years the brothers’ crimes increase in severity; they are workers for a prominent gang lord and perform his dirty deeds in exchange for food and shelter. However, when the crime boss insists that Jamal burn his eyes out with acid to maximize his profit as a beggar, the brothers flee by train. Sadly, Jamal is forced to leave behind his childhood sweetheart and fellow orphan Latika (Freida Pinto) despite his best attempt to rescue her. Years later he would discover that she was forced into prostitution, but this does not change Jamal’s longing for her. The movie fast forwards to Jamal’s young adulthood and he is still poor but works as a tea servant at a large call center, an occupation at least more respectable than picking pockets at a famed mosque. His life takes a strange twist when he is granted an opportunity to appear on India’s version of “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire” and despite public skepticism he climbs the game’s ranks with utter perfection. Money is not his aim though; he hopes that Latika, like most of India’s population, will be tuned in, see him on television, and accept his hand in marriage.. There are still significant obstacles in Jamal’s way though. Firstly, he has not seen Latika for years and has no idea if she has married, has children, or that she would even be remotely interested in a relationship with him. Is she even alive? Secondly, and more urgently, police have arrested Jamal believing that his success is attributable to cheating, not intelligence. After all, what is the likelihood a slumdog could be more knowledgeable than doctors, lawyers and much more esteemed show participants who failed miserably? This is where the story begins. As police interrogate and beat him they review a tape of his appearance on the program. For each question Jamal explains to the officers how a real life experience provided him with the knowledge to answer; viewers relive these experiences in the form of vivid flashbacks. Cinematography in this picture is superb and showcases both India’s beautiful landscapes and its grimy urban poverty. One must also respect the amount of effort required to film with the cooperation of the villages’ hundreds of inhabitants who are seen throughout the picture and are most definitely not extras. With a budget of merely $15 million “Slumdog Millionaire” excelled beyond wildest expectations, grossing over $377 million worldwide, 25 times more than its budget. Critics praised the film almost unanimously, earning it a 93% fresh rating on popular review site Rotten Tomatoes. Slumdog Millionaire is rated R for some violence, disturbing images and language.

Knocked Up

Ben Stone (Seth Rogen) is 23 years old and going nowhere. His hobbies include sleeping, eating, smoking weed, and hanging out with his roommates. Together, they have an amazing business idea: to design a website that pinpoints the exact times (to the second) where nude scenes occur in popular films. Okay – so maybe it's not quite 'amazing,' but it is at least something. At any rate Ben is content with his life, and aside from a hot girlfriend, couldn't ask for much more. He might just get his wish. One night while clubbing with his pals Stone meets Alison Scott (Katherine Heigl), an up and coming television show host. The two polar opposites: one sexy and the other nerdy eventually get drunk, dance, and wind up in bed. Alison isn't happy when she wakes up the following morning and realizes her severe misjudgment in men. She promptly boots Ben and pretends that the night never happened; meanwhile, he can't believe it even happened. The two forget about one another for another 8 weeks. That is when Alison begins experiencing morning sickness. A number of home pregnancy tests reveal that a baby is on the way and Ben is the father. You see, in the heat of the moment Alison begged Ben to "just do it;" while she was referring to putting a condom on, he misinterpreted it as well – just doing it. Debbie (Leslie Mann), the expected mother's sister, encourages her to abort the baby. Alison is determined to have it though. Not only will she keep the baby, but she also wants to invite Ben into her life as a true partner. Perhaps he is a sweet guy after all. But Ben remains immature, and by the time he realizes his errors, the mother of his child has split. Now he must mend the damage he's done to get a third chance with a girl who would otherwise be out of his league. Knocked Up was a box office smash, earning a total of $219 million across the globe, six times more than its budget. The picture was also recognized on the award circuit, earning 2 Teen Choice Awards and 3 MTV Movie Award nominations. Its soundtrack features a wide variety of music by artists like Ol' Dirty Bastard, The B-52’s, Sublime, Britney Spears, and many more.
