The new Russian DTH platform Continent TV is now expected to make its debut this month.
Its operators Orion Express and RuSat had previously announced a February 2010 launch date for the service, which will employ Intelsat 15 at 85.15 degrees East, launched only last November.
The service will be available to 99% of the Russian population, with reception possible with 60cm dishes in Central, Southern, Volga and Ural districts of the country and 80cm dishes in the North West, Siberian and Far Eastern districts.
According to the latest information supplied by the operators, the programme offer will consist of a ‘Classic’ package of 50 best Russian and foreign TV channels from R199 (€4.90) a month, along with 10 all-Russia channels for free; and a ‘Beloved’ package costing from R99 a month. Subscribers will be able to build their own packages, making the service more accessible to low income groups.
Significantly, the service will also offer a multiroom option.
The recommended cost of reception equipment is R7,400.
