Marca TV picks up terrestrial La Liga rights
By James Emmett
Spanish free-to-air broadcaster Marca TV has acquired a package of La Liga rights from the Mediapro agency.
The deal runs for the duration of the current season and entitles Marca TV to live rights to one top flight Spanish soccer game per week, usually on a Monday.
The free-to-air package has previously been held by La Sexta, a sister channel of the RCS MediaGroup-owned broadcaster, but La Sexta is currently the subject of a takeover bid by rival broadcaster Antena 3.
