Man allegedly tried to rob police station
KESENNUMA, Japan, July 14 (UPI) -- Police in the Japanese city of Kesennuma said a man armed with a knife was arrested when he attempted to rob a police station.
Investigators said Kazuhiro Hatakeyama, 22, walked into the Kesennuma Police Station with a large kitchen knife at about 12:40 p.m. Monday and demanded money from a 37-year-old woman working at a reception counter, The Yomiuri Shimbun reported Wednesday.
"Give me some money, or I'll kill you," Hatakeyama was quoted as allegedly saying.
However, the man was quickly apprehended by nearby officers and charged with attempted robbery and a violation of Firearms and Swords Control Law.
