Magyar Telekom maintains broadband lead

Magyar Telekom HQMagyar Telekom remains the leading provider of fixed broadband in Hungary, claiming a market share (35.7%) almost equivalent to those of its two closest competitors UPC (21.9%) and Digi (14%) combined as of this June.

According to data produced by the regulator NMHH, Invitel (9.5%), Tarr (2.6%), PR Telekom (2.1%), ViDaNet (1.9%), GTS-Hungary (0.6%) and Parisat (0.5%) were the next largest players, with numerous smaller ISPs accounting for the remaining 11.2%.

As of the end of June there were 989,346 broadband cable subscriptions in Hungary, of which nearly half (480,833) were via DOSCIS 3.0.

There were 369,904 FTTx subscriptions, while the xDSL subscription total stood at 778,039.
