M7 launches Dutch DTT price offensive
September 24, 2013 10.27 Europe/London By Robert Briel

Under the new Canaltenne brand, the Dutch branch of the M7 Group is launching a price offensive against KPN’s Digitenne.

Last July, KPN increased the monthly subscription fee of its DTT platform Digitenne to €12.50 a month for its basic package of 25 SD channels. Canal Digitaal’s response is the Canaltenne offer for just €9.95 a month.

Canaltenne is based upon a wholesale agreement with Dutch independent operator Scarlet, who is also selling the Digitenne product at €9.95. Scarlet and Canaltenne subscribers are not able to upgrade their subscription with Fox Sports channels; this is only possible for KPN Digitenne subscribers.

The Canaltenne marketing campaign is the second offensive of the M7 Group against Digitenne in the Dutch market. In July, the operator introduced a special low-price DTH offer called HD-Light, consisting of 15 channels (13 in HD) including the ten most-watched Dutch public and private channels.
