Lattelecom claims Baltic top spot

The Latvian incumbent telco Lattelecom is now the leading provider of TV services in the Baltic Republics.
In a statement, the company says it currently has 230,000 TV subscribers, compared to the 147,100 and 134,600 claimed by its Lithuanian (TEO LT) and Estonian (Elion) counterparts respectively.
Lattelecom adds that it entered the TV market in 2007 and was the first company in the Baltic region to employ MPEG-4 compression.
It successfully completed the transition to digital terrestrial broadcasting and currently operates three TV platforms, offering viewers IPTV, DTT and web TV services.
