Iron still hope to sign Trotter
Adkins waiting for Ipswich midfielder to decide on offer
Scunthorpe United boss Nigel Adkins remains hopeful of signing Ipswich Town midfielder Liam Trotter.
The 20-year-old made 14 appearances on loan at Glanford Park last season and helped the club to secure promotion to the Championship.
He has been offered a new contract at Ipswich, prompting suggestions the Iron would be unable to re-sign the player.
However, Adkins is not conceding defeat in his quest to sign Trotter and is waiting for the youngster to make a decision on his future.
"We know Ipswich have offered Liam a new deal, but he knows there is something for him here too," Adkins told the Scunthorpe Telegraph.
"It's up to him to decide where his future is.
"The situation is a bit delicate at the moment, but I have had a further talk with his agent and hopefully the door is still open for us."
