laptop with vista and DM ip address

Hi all, could you please tell me what settings i have to have on the laptop,as it can not conect to the DM am getting an error for the conection 100057 ( am using the laptop as a router with dongle) also when i check the DM IP it starts with 169.254 is this ok?
my DM is 600pvr thank you

Is your dreambox connected to your router and which image are you using? You can usually tell your DM ips in the network settings.
