Lagardère eyes Czech channel
10.12 Europe/London, December 8, 2011 By Chris Dziadul

The long-established Czech music channel Ocko may soon find itself under new ownership.

E15 reports that negotiations are currently taking place between the Mafra media group, its current backer, and France’s Lagardère.

The latter already has a presence in the Czech radio market and is apparently exploring the possibilities of either an acquisition of, or cooperation with, Ocko.

Ocko, which reduced its losses from CZK29.4 million (€1.16 million) in 2009 to CZK3 million last year, is distributed via cable (UPC), DTH (Skylink, CS Link, Digi TV and freeSAT), IPTV (O2 TV) and DTT (the fourth multiplex, which reaches around 26% of the population).

It is also streamed on smartphones.
