Kathrein UFS 910 USB disk format

can anybody recommend a disk formatting utility to prepare a 2.5" external disk drive to work with these receivers as I have had no luck so far?
I notice that one satellite online retaiiler states that buying a hard drive from a shop is unlikely to work without considerable preparation software for this receiver.

I used a ibook 1TB out of the box no formating and it is perfect

normally you would fat32 the drive

or should i say a 1TB Mybook Western Digital

Just a thought but my Kathrein refused to recognise a USB stick drive until I gave it a volume name. Could try setting the name on a PC when you format it in FAT32.
