January launch for Sport1 Go
December 14, 2012 11.36 Europe/London By Robert Briel

The Dutch premium sports multiplex Sport 1 will launch its TV Everywhere service Sport1 Go in January, 2013.

Satellite DTH TV provider Canal Digital has announced that it will start to offer the service before the end of January, according to Dutch TV news website Totaal TV. So far, Chellomedia, who owns and operates Sport, has not announced an official launch date for the new TV Everywhere service.

Subscribers to the Canal Digitaal Top HD package, the Sport1/Film1 package and Sport1 package will receive Sport1 Go at no additional charge.

Besides the possibility of watching all six Sport1 channels live via PC, laptop, tablet or smartphone, Sport1 Go offers more applications.

With picture in picture it will be possible to watch two Sport1 channels simultaneously. There is also access to the content of the catch-up TV service Sport1 Gemist and the Sport1 Match Centre offers breaking news and notifications about live events.

Canal Digital is the first provider announcing the Sport1 Go offer for its subscribers. There is an interesting twist to the story: on satellite, Canal Digitaal only offers three live Sport1 channels, while Sport1 Go offer the full range of six channels in live streaming.
