Hi All,
The EPG guide on my VU+ duo (rytec UK) appears to be intermittent recently. I have set up different times for it to update but the problem still exists. I also force the box into the 'download now' option but no update occurs. I an running black hole image.
Any suggestions.

philly.

I have this issue sometimes, I also seem to have a problem, where I can download a working epg list, and the following day some of the listings have vanished.

seems to be the same for both of us. I may try a new image over the holiday and let you know if it has made a difference.

The vanishing listings is more of an issue to me, it's so damn annoying lol.

When it doesn't download the listings it's also annoying, but 99% of the time, I assume it's an issue with the Rytec servers rather than the image.

Have you set up a swap file on a USB stick? Also try using the opentv providers instead of Rytec for UK. This will take the data directly from the dish rather than the internet.

Thanks mickd,
At the moment I have set up a usb stick to take care of the epg's. Can you advise me on how to try out your suggestion.

I beleive you're using BH. Press blue x 2 . Go down the list and select swap file settings. Create a swap file on your USB. I set mine to 256MB. This will take a few minutes to create. Activate the swap file and set it to autostart using the coloured buttons.

Got to Crosspeg and Enable Opentv Providers (28.2) or (28.4) depedning on your satellite.xml file. Disable Rytec or any other providers and download now. You can schedule the EPG to download within the configure menu.

Well I upgraded to a vu+ ultimo on xmas eve and just checked my listings and have the same problem still.

So it must be either a BH issue or a Rytec issue.

It's not a rytec issue as it happens with open tv. I find if i restart the box and then download the epg it works again

Is the EPG missing after a scheduled download? If so it sounds like the box is crashing. Have you tried to set up the swap file? When the EPG is gone go to Crossepg setup and configure option ,do you still see the USB or HDD under storage device? If not you need the swap file. What happens when you force reload the EPG after it goes missing. Also turn off opentv under the BH EPG settings. Press blue, red, red. Set Enable OpenTv EpgLoder to no and press red to save. Check that you dont have any other providers enabled under the BH EPG.

I´m using crossepg on VTI Image and the schedule download did not work correctly. So I created a script for the Download that I start as a crontab.

\usr\crossepg\mancrossepg.sh
/usr/crossepg/crossepg_downloader -l /usr/crossepg -d /media/hdd/crossepg -p xepgdb_rytec_uk_xmltv__xepgdb_repacked_
/usr/crossepg/crossepg_downloader -l /usr/crossepg -d /media/hdd/crossepg -p rytec_uk_xmltv
/usr/crossepg/crossepg_dbconverter

\etc\cron\crontabs\root
5 13 * * * /usr/crossepg/mancrossepg.sh
The only thing that hast o be done is to use the “Crossepg force Reload” function to load the downloaded files in the system EPG
